“Turtles and Rays!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2011

We stayed at the Caneel Bay repost and saw 6 different sea turtles and rays both in the morning and afternoons. We were amazingly close to the turtles and swam righ alongside them!

“Beautiful! One of my 2 favorite beaches on St John”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2011

Hawksnest and Cinnamon are my 2 fav beaches on the island. Not over crowded and very pretty. The waters are calm and the sand is soft. Hawksnest is one of the local hang outs so you wont see many tourists here on your visit. Great place to go relax for the day

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2011

You really can't blame a beach... it's beautiful sans the seaweed which made it seem trashy. We went on a Sunday and one thing we learned is that if the beach is easily accesible with parking its a magnet for families. Parking was a challenge to be nice about it. Remember: when parking on the side of the road your tire cannot remotely touch the asphalt otherwise you will be ticketed or towed. There are covered areas for picnics and facilities with showers. In my opinion there are better beaches.

“Elkhorn coral”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2011

There are two distinct stands of coral --- one is almost completely dead, the other one in danger. Idiots are paddle boarding right on top of the elkhorn; touching it and thereby killing it.

Also most sunscreen is toxic to the coral. Please make sure you buy reef safe sunscreen before entering the water.

This is where locals, tourists, and boats go --- a favorite place that is being loved to death.
