“Best snorkel spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

We go several times a year, and this spot never disappoints. Lots of places to explore. Plentiful beach. You can take a short hike and snorkel off the trail near where boats tie up. Or hike all the way to the beach and make the swim for the cay. No mater where you choose, you'll find spectacular coral and wild life. And the hike all the way up to the ruins is wort the view.

“Waterlemon Cay, awesome snorkeling”

This was definitely one of the most amazing spots we visited while on St John. Amazing snorkeling. Really nice walk to the spot. A must see.

“Fantastic Snorkeling”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

While it is a hike to get to this place, it is well worth the effort. You can also rent small boats in cruz bay and save your feet from the hike. Surf can be a little choppy on the outer part of the cay but if you are a decent swimmer, you should be able to handle it. You could do what my husband did...he bought himself a little blow up life vest and was much more comfortable in the deep water

“Great snorkeling”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

Great snorkeling location, easy to reach from shore, or if renting dinghy and tying up to mooring line. Many fish, corals, and sponges around the island. Be careful at times due to strong currents around the cay. Recommend having snorkel / scuba fins to help swim against the tide. Go early in the am, this area can become very busy by lunchtime.

“Shark and a Ray at Waterlemon Cay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

We recently returned from a visit to St. John - we stayed at Caneel and mostly snorkeled their beaches but took one day to tour the island in a jeep. We stopped at Leinster Beach and hiked to the point to snorkel around Waterlemon Cay which was great - about 1/10 mile swim from the point to the cay and then follow the current around the cay to see lots of coral and more fish than on the more popular beaches (current can be strong and can change so we didnt make it all the way around the cay). On the way back swimming the channel which is about 25ft in depth we spotted a nice size ray and followed it past a rock which reveal a small sleeping nurse shark. My first ever shark sighting! It was about a 4 footer as far I could tell but what a great snorkel!!
