Owner description: The most accessible and best preserved of its type, this once-working sugar plantation (circa 1870) was the site of boiling molasses and hardworking slaves harvesting sugarcane, and which now offers visitors regular tours and living-history demonstrations.

The climb to the ruins is quite an effort especially on a hot day and once you arrive if the no seeums are plentiful, you won't stay long. The views are beautiful and there is a lot of history to soak up while you are there.

Amazing ruins, well worth the visit. Lots to look at - trail is easily walkable. For those who are a bit adventurous, there are hidden trails to more ruins.. Lots of bug bites after that itch badly! Another traveler noted the ruins being closed due to bees, when we went, the park was open but a sign was posted about bee dangers. My fiancé found a hive while exploring, so bee careful (pun intended).

Stopped here on our way to Coral Bay. Really worth it for anyone who enjoys history or architecture. Easy walk from the parking area. Nice views. Just enough description to satisfy, while still keeping an untouched feel to the environment.

We went up to the ruins today and they were closed due to bees. I would check before driving up to make sure that they're open.
