Owner description: The good news: this world-class stretch of white sand and turquoise water is St. John's most photographed beach, which features a marked underwater trail for beginning snorkelers. The bad news: because of its popularity, it can get very crowded with cruise ship passengers and members of sightseeing tours.

This is a beautiful beach! Water is clear. Snorkeling is good. During the day it is crowed. We planned our visit after 4 then you get in free and the many people from the cruises were leaving. Nice way to spend the late afternoon.

The most beautiful beach and pristine water, but so many people put this beach on my list of "no's" When we arrived with at least a dozen "taxi trucks" each carrying 15-20 people and a full parking lot we knew it was going to be a zoo. If you don't mind spending the day at the beach 6-8 feet from people you don't know, then by all means do so....we seek a little more solitude.

We really enjoyed our time at this beach. The sun, the sand, and the snorkeling were all fantastic! All we brought with us was a couple of towels. Everything we needed, we rented on site. We also had a couple of great burgers and some killer painkillers from the beachbar/rburger shack. If you are ever on St. John, you have to plan at least 1 1/2 day at this beach. It's a MUST.

We went on a cruise out of San Juan that stopped in St. Thomas. We decided to visit St. John instead since we had previously been to St. Thomas. I did some research on St. John and I kept reading that Trunk Bay was the beach to visit. We had to take 2 taxis and a Ferri to get to St. John from St. Thomas but it was so worth it!! This beach is a private little beach (pay a fee to get in) with the one of the most beautiful waters I've ever seen. There are bathroom facilities and lockers available as well as a food kiosk. We rented snorkel gear for the kids (which was super inexpensive- I believe less than $10) and the kids had a blast snorkeling all day. I highly recommend this beach.

We took the ferry over from St. Thomas, very easy and what a beautiful scenic ride on the open ferry. We then took a shuttle to this beach about a 15 min. Ride thru thick dense jungle forest with breathtaking views all the way there. Trunk bay is a great, large beautiful beach, with tranquil waters. They have an amazing snorkeling route around a large island rock, we saw so many bright colored fish, also a barracuda! The fish are so intelligent they followed us, and interacted with us. We spent they day here, lots of sun and shaded areas, and hiking trails. Highly recommend!!!
