Owner description: The good news: this world-class stretch of white sand and turquoise water is St. John's most photographed beach, which features a marked underwater trail for beginning snorkelers. The bad news: because of its popularity, it can get very crowded with cruise ship passengers and members of sightseeing tours.

“Wedding Day!”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

It was the perfect place to exchange our wedding vows, presided over by Anne Marie Porter...the "barefoot minister" who made it extra special and so very beautiful!

“Breathtaking”
Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

We went to trunk bay from st thomas on a excursion from carnival . We took a boat ride about 40 minutes from st thomas, boarded a bus to the beach. We stopped at a overlook on the way, one of the most beautiful scenes you'll ever see. The beach is stunning, the snorkeling was ok..I would love to go back..

“Beautiful...a little crowded”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

This bay is a crowd pleaser, lots of taxis etc. The underwater trail that the park service makes a big deal about is mostly coral...very few fish. The fish are on other reefs and hae been scared away by all the traffic. The bay is lovely and warm. You can take a taxi from town and don't worry about finding one for the ride back, there are tons of them.

“Very picturesque”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

Be sure to get a photo at the overlook on the road in. It makes a postcard-perfect backdrop. This is a lovely beach, but gets very busy. It can be hard to find parking. If you get an early start you’ll have your pick of spots in the parking lot and on the beach. Facilities are very nice – lots of washrooms, change rooms, showers, and a snack stand with typical fast-food fare (at high prices, as would be expected). The beach is long and powdery with lots of spots for laying out. Surf can get rough when it’s windy; our daughter had her goggles pulled right off of her face in a big wave, and was pretty disappointed. The underwater snorkel tour will be hard or impossible to see on a rough surf day. It’s a cool idea, but info posted on the little signs it pretty basic. Bring along a book of tropical fish and you’ll be able to identify lots of interesting creatures.
