Owner description: The good news: this world-class stretch of white sand and turquoise water is St. John's most photographed beach, which features a marked underwater trail for beginning snorkelers. The bad news: because of its popularity, it can get very crowded with cruise ship passengers and members of sightseeing tours.

Gorgeous beach with national park facilities. Parking is very limited so most people take cabs. If you are driving go early or late.

It is easy to get a taxi to Trunk Bay and there are usually taxis there so you don't have to worry about being stuck in a National Park.
The entry fee is $4 pr. person for a whole day and you can leave and come back.

The water is very clear and the coral reef is clearly marked and in better condition than f.ex. Buck Island. There can be quite a lot of people so come early. A snorkel and mask is recommended, but a pair of goggles can work, you don't need flippers (and I am not a great swimmer). Lots of fish to look at and listen to as they nibble on the corals. Definitely a must see on St. John.

I was very fortunate to be visiting St. Thomas on my birthday (cruise port). We took the ferry over to St. John's for the day. I don't think I have ever seen a more beautiful beach! the sand is white and powdery. Even with 4 cruise ships in port, it wasn't too busy and there was plenty of natural shade. The snorkeling was ok but not great. I can't wait to go back one day.
