“Sea turtles, starfish, rays, conchs, and a wonderful beach to boot!”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

Every year we make a point of stopping at Maho to snorkel. It is calm, clear (generally) and beautiful. Easy access and typically uncrowded (unlike Trunk where they bring in cruise ship day trippers by the taxi-load). We always enjoy floating and watching the sea turtles, typically you'll see anywhere from 2 or 3 to more floating below. In February there were so many conchs - in other years I've seen lots of starfish. There are typically rays gliding along the sandy bottom - and tons of colorful fish along the reefs on either edge.

A great stop for the day if you're driving and if by taxi, just let the driver know you want to be picked up at a certain time - generally they are very amenable to coming back!

In short - this beach is just a perfect place to enjoy a few leisurely hours in perfect, clear water.

“Beautiful Beach”

Beautiful water, the beach was incredible. Lots of sea life to see while snorkeling! All kinds of fish at your feet, picnic tables and grills to use too.

“Big Maho beach”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

I really like Big Maho beach !! it quite large by St john standards & So easy to just park on the road side & be on the beach within 30 seconds. I just wish there was onsite restroom facilities. There is usually always good snorkeling in & around this bay esp. to the right toward little maho beach. go hit this beach & enjoy

“Lots of sea turtles, great for beginner snorkelers”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Went here to see sea turtles with friends who are beginning snorkelers. We were not disappointed! Sea turtles and rays, nice calm waters. Quiet beach. Only thing missing was fish (but we came for turtles) so not disappointed.

“Good place to see turtles”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Didn't see many fish but saw a few turtles munching on the sea grass. Quiet, family friendly beach with no waves and parking lot was not crowded.
