“Good Breakfast Stop”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

Cafe Livin is a nice place to have a relaxing breakfast or light lunch. We ate here three times during our week long trip and liked their food very much. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because they always seemed to be out of something. On one day they ran out of pancakes (seriously, how do you run out of pancakes if you're a breakfast place), and on another day they were out of their breakfast sandwich biscuits. Those issues aside this is a good choice if you're looking for a good breakfast.

Note, however, that if you are in a hurry you shouldn't eat here. As most places in St. John are on "island time" you should be expecting things to take a long time, but several folks had come for take out while we were eating that asked how long their food would take as they had to catch the ferry. The workers said 8 to 9 minutes and then 20 minutes later the customers had their food and nervously ran to the ferry dock. Another customer had to sprint towards the ferry as his "less than one minute left" order took nearly 10 more minutes.

“Sidewalk Dining At Its Best”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

This eclectic side-walk Cafe has been open for several years and it's amazing the quality of food they turn out of a very small kitchen. I have eaten here several times over the years and never been disappointed. Great for breakfast when you're in a hurry to go to the beach or relax at your leisure. Lunch & Dinner will not disappoint either. Very inexpensive for island dining with a great service staff. I'm an early riser so their early open (6:30 AM) works for us. If you're on a family tight budget, you won't be sorry you tried it out.

“Helpful staff”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

We heard about this place on the ferry over and it took us all week to find it!!!!! But our last day we needed something to take with us for the long journey home. The owner was very helpful, packed us a nice lunch and sent us off. Thanks!!! The sandwiches also used real meat!! A first for our experience on the island. Great job and thanks.

“Ideal location, great sushi, drinks and snacks”
Reviewed February 22, 2014 via mobile

We enjoyed two visits to Cafe Livin while on St. John. Great drinks and food - on Friday night we were amazed by the fresh sushi! The tuna roll was fantastic and my husband was converted to being a sushi lover with the tempura shrimp scorpion roll. What a convenient location for delicious coffee and breakfast sandwiches while downtown, waiting for the ferry, etc. The owners, Bill and Olivia are fantastic people - very knowledgeable about the island and welcoming. You must visit - and tell them Peter and Judy send their regards!
