“Best Place on St. John”
Reviewed March 5, 2011

We just returned from a much needed vacation from a snowy New England winter to the beautiful summer-like weather in St. John. One of our favorite places for happy hour and dinner was the upstairs, outdoor patio restaurant Spyglass which overlooks Cruz Bay. After a glorious day at one of the beaches we would pop up to Spyglass for happy hour wearing t-shirts, sundresses & sandals. We could not pass up the happy hour prices for margaritas, beers and wings - you don't get that in New England. Our bartender and now good friend Chris makes the best drinks on the island - anything from painkillers to sangria. We would order a bunch of $1 wings (4 varieties to choose from) sit back and watch the boats come into the harbor and the pelicans sweep the bay. For dinner Chris would reserve us a table with a great view. The dinner menu was great and the food was amazing. Spyglass offers anything from salads, pasta, steaks and seafood. We ate dinner there 5 times during our stay and went to happy hour at least 7 times - we were never disappointed. Sarah, the manager, sent over complimentary desserts (brownie sundaes and fried key-lime pie!) to the delight of our teenage daughters! Congrats on a great location, staff and menu!

“Great view and location, good food and service”
Reviewed February 28, 2011

I've found a lot of the restaurants in Cruz Bay overpriced with sub-par food and service. The Spyglass was a pleasant change to this trend, with well-designed seafood dishes, a fantastic location, and excellent service. I highly recommend this restaurant for an informal dinner overlooking the main harbor in St. John.

“Disappointing brunch...”
Reviewed February 28, 2011

My wife and I had Sunday brunch there while waiting for our ferry to St. Thomas. I ordered scrambled eggs but got an omelet instead and the omelet was flat with very little filling. My wife's crepes were not very good. I've had much better for a lot less money. We would not dine there again.

“Tucked away, and WHAT A FIND!”
Reviewed February 23, 2011

My visit to St John's was filled with sun and fun, boat drinks and bar food. We were at the Wharfside Village, and looking for a little more sustenance than what the line of bars on the first floor were offering. The bartender from The Beach Bar suggested Spyglass on the second floor. We walked up to the second floor, And knew we had found that PERFECT place for our cravings.
Where to begin.... friendly hostess, nice bar to sit before dinner, table service out on the deck, friendly AND attentive waitstaff....and THE FOOD. Excellent! We were very happy with our dining experience and decided to come back the night before we departed.
There was a lively Happy Hour going on, and watched an incredible sunset before enjoying our final dinner on St.Johns.
We will be back and SPYGLASS will be on our must REVISIT list.
