This was our second visit to St. John and Gallows Point and was as great as our first. July is a wonderful time of the year to come here. No reservations needed at the restaurants, no crowded beaches and the weather was glorious. Also rates are slightly lower. We spent a long weekend in St. John. Would have loved to stay longer but kids had to get back to summer jobs.

We stayed in 1C and it was a lovely, very private unit. We had forgotten how beautiful the sunsets are from the deck and coffee there in the morning is a great start to the day. 1C was very clean, well kept, very comfortable and decorated nicely. The owners are from New England and obviously care that all visitors enjoy their stay in 1C. No problems with bugs what so ever and we did have a couple of rain showers while we were there.

We took a day sail to the BVI on New Horizons 2 and had a very fun day. Rented a sail boat for the kids at Cinnamon Bay and they spent an exciting hour cruising the bay. Snorkeled, had dinner at Rhumb Line and Lime Inn. Both were excellent. Had lunch at Skinny Legs and found the coldest beer on the island. Also the owner is a Red Sox fan. Go team! And smoothies at Columbo's was a daily event.

Maine (my home) is very different from St. John but also similar as both have lovely pristine shorelines in danger of being destroyed by global warming and other environmental damages. It's lovely to see these places but we must take better care or they will be lost to us forever. Visit St. John and Gallows Point. You will not be disappointed with either.

I just returned from a 4 day stay at Gallows and would highly recommend the hotel to anyone interested in traveling to St. John. I was debating between Caneel Bay and Gallows Point when planning this vacation, and I am very glad that I chose Gallows. The location is amazing (just a five minute walk to the heart of Cruz Bay) and all the rooms are very large and clean. Our room was an oceanfront upper directly overlooking the water. Staff is very friendly and helpful, especially the employees who work at the store. The onsite Zozo's restaurant was also a highlight.

This hotel is not directly on the beach, but definitely not a deal breaker. There is access to the ocean, but it's a rocky beach, and there is great snorkeling right there. We rented a jeep for a day and drove to some of the nicest beaches on the island.

Definitely would return to Gallows if I ever make it back to St. John.

We just returned from a week in St. John, staying at Gallows Point Resort in Cruz Bay. The hotel is in a great location, a very short walk into the little town of Cruz Bay and all the restaurants and shops there. From the hotel, you could also walk to Salomon Beach, which we did one day, although this is a little more of a hike.
We stayed in a room on the harbor side. The rooms are large and have great views. Our unit was showing some age, although everything worked OK. The pool at the resort is very small, and the beach is non-existent. I would definitely recommend renting a jeep and visiting the other beautiful beaches on the island. The staff was friendly, although the front desk staff was not very knowledgeable or helpful. The advertised wireless internet service did not work half the time, and the front desk did nothing to fix the problem. We were there when Hurrincane Dean was a threat, and it would have been nice to have internet access to track things.
Zozo's Restaurant is onsite, and was quite good, although expensive, as are most restaurants on the island. There is a small store onsite that sells everything from beer and wine to suntan lotion. The people in the store are also very helpful with car rentals, tours, etc. and are very knowledgeable about the island.
St. John is a beautiful, relaxing, laid back place. We would definitely like to return. We would probably stay at Gallows Point again, although I think we would look around to see what else is available first.

I stayed at this hotel for a friend's wedding. The grounds are very pretty and the individual condos/villas are very spacious. The hotel staff was very friendly and it was nice that there was a hotel shuttle to pick you up from the ferry station (call and let them know what ferry you are taking from St Thomas so they know when to meet you).

The location of this hotel was ideal as it was an easy walk right into town and there were plenty of shops and restaurants just minutes away. We did not rent a car, but the taxis are very expensive and we realized we spent a lot of money getting around to various beaches and doing pre-wedding activities. They charge per person so if you are traveling with a family, it will just be too expensive to take a taxi back and forth. Rent a car - although be aware that the roads are narrow and you drive on the left side of the road.

The hotel pool is pretty nice and although the beach at the hotel is pretty small and rocky, its still a great place to hang out, swim, and snorkel.

One negative is that the water pressure was very low. The shower really wasn't strong at all so they need to work on that. It made showering and washing hair take much longer than necessary.

Another negative I would have to say is the price of the hotel. We visited during low season and it was still extremely expensive. The decor of the rooms varied widely so it didnt seem quite fair to pay the same high price as another guest who had much nicer accomodations. In another room we saw, the kitchen was completely redone with modern stainless steel appliances and the bedroom had a flat screen tv on the wall. But each of the "rooms" are individually owned, so its really the luck of the draw.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Gallows Point for the days leading up to our wedding the 4th weekend in June. Our family & friends all stayed there as well, and everyone was really pleased. The resort's proximity to town and on-property snorkeling were big hits with our group, since we were able to just hang out there when we didn't feel like driving to the other beaches on the island and we could just walk down the hill into town to shop or eat. The gift shop helped us with rental cars and snorkel gear and was convenient for snacks. The property itself was very pretty and the rooms were great--plenty of space and beautiful views. They weren't luxurious, but they weren't cheap-feeling either, and for the price we were very impressed. The only problems anyone in our group really had were air-conditioning units not cooling effectively, but a call to management usually resolved that very quickly. Oveall, we would highly recommend Gallows Point, and we definitely plan to return!

We just returned from eight days at gallows point and really liked the resort. The rooms were great, the service very good. All requests or issues were handled well beyond my expectations. The only negative was the activity office (they are onsight but not owned by the resort) the staff was rude at best, very difficult to work with and made many mistakes (put the wrong starting time on my activity card, gave me the wrong time for the ferry to charlotte screwed up my bill and more) in dealing with them we always felt like we were imposing. You can book all your activities online or on island at several booths

My husband and I stayed 6 nights in 4D at the Gallows Point Resort..the last few days of April and into the first few days of May. We were thrilled with the location of GP and thrilled with our beautiful room. We were greeted very warmly upon arrival by Suzanne, who we later visited with at the Monday night poolside manager's cocktail party. Suzanne was a delight! Our room had everything you could possibly need, great A/C, a kitchen with all the gadgets, a nice upper loft with a great bed and an incredible view! What more could you ask for.
We rented a Suzuki Grand Montero from Cool Breeze for our entire stay. It was well worth it! We explored the entire island and were able to go to incredibly pristine, quiet beaches. Lots of snorkeling with turtles, thousands of fish and even quite a few stingray. So beautiful. Take advantage of the cooler that is in every room to take to the beach. We went to Starfish market (easy to find, make a right and go up the hill from the gas station)and purchased lunch items and had a fine picnic every day at our various beach stops.
The restaurant on site, Zozo's, was so good we ate their on on our second night and on our last night. For HUGE portions of really delicious Italian food, we recommend Romano's in Cruz Bay...an easy walk from GP. La Tapa in town was also great.
The ferry service back and forth from St. Thomas was professional and on time.
We actually spent an entire week in St. Thomas at the Mariott Frenchman's Reef before we went to St. John. It was nice to explore St. Thomas, but next time, only 2 nights on St. Thomas and 10 or 11 nights at the beautiful Gallows Point.
We have traveled all over Mexico, the Caribbean and Hawaii and the Gallows Point was a highlight! Enjoy and renew.
