“Charming Villas and Amazing hosts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

My husband and I LOVED our stay at Coconut Coast. It was our first trip to St. John and we couldn't have imagined a better place to be our home base as we explored the gorgeous island. The rooms were very comfortable and nicely appointed. We loved our private and spacious balcony. We ate breakfast out there almost every morning before we headed out for the day. Having the kitchen and mini fridge was very clutch!! We found the prices to be such an incredible value compared to the other lodging establishments on the island. The views from all of the rooms are spectacular. I've never slept so well as I did at Coconut Coast. The sound of the water breaking on the rocks was so soothing. It is not a sand beach but you won't miss it at all as some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world are a short trip away. We loved the secluded pool and hot tub and found it was the perfect way to unwind after a long day of exploring. The most notable part of our stay was the AMAZING hosts, Liz and Tom. My husband and I love to travel and we both agree that we have never experienced more hospitality than we did that vacation. Liz and Tom were incredibly attentive without being overbearing. They were proactive about making suggestions of things to do, places to see and great restaurants in the area. All of their recommendations were spot on and made our vacation so memorable. They are truly hands on managers and couldn't be any nicer or more personable. Liz even noticed I had a bit of a sunburn one day and the next thing I knew she was bringing me a bottle of aloe vera gel to my room. I mean seriously when is the last time that has happened at a hotel?? I just can't say enough about Liz and Tom. They truly made our vacation one of our all time favorites. We can't wait to go back!!!!! I would highly recommend Coconut Coast for families, groups, and couples alike. You won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: Just pick a room based on size requirements. They ALL face the water and have amazing views!

This place is great for couples.. The rooms are perfect if you are not expecting a 5 star resort... They are simple, clean, accomodating, the view is to die for... the porch sits right on the water, there is no beach it is all rocks, but it is beautiful.. It is in an area that is hard to find, and near a salt pond..It is close to town, within walking distance (during the day)..We usually stay at the Westin which is very expensive, for the price this place is a gem.... I would stay here again...

We loved our stay at Coconut Coast villas. They are nothing fancy, but simple, clean and practical, perfect for our girls trip (we were 5 of us)! We were right by the beach, which was rocky and rough so not ideal for swimming, but made for a great view! There is a pool, which is small, and we did not spend much time there, there were so many things to do and so many beautiful beaches! Liz and Tom booked us on an all day excursion to the BVI's aboard the Bad Kitty which we all loved! The location was ideal, the walk into town was easy enough and overall it was an amazing stay. We will be back, and would definitely stay here again.

Four of us stayed in the 2 bedroon, 2 bath unit that overlooked the pool area and loved it. I thought at first that it might be noisy at night, but we were the only ones that used the pool and hot tub. The managers, Liz and Tom, took good care of us suggesting good places to eat and the best beaches to snorkel. Liz booked an all day excursion for us to the BVI's aboard the Bad Kitty which we all loved. The villa we were in was not super fancy, but very homey, city water, AC in the bedrooms, with a well equipped kitchen. The bedroom we had was right on the water and the sound of the waves put us to sleep every night. The bedroom that my sister and her husband slept in faced the driveway and did have some occasional late night traffic, and roosters and peacocks crowing early in the morning. Using the path that went along the Salt Pond makes for a short walk into Cruz Bay and all the restraunts and shops. We would definately stay there again. Al B.

Room Tip: Rooms on the water side are quieter.

My family of four rented a 2BR/1BATH apartment in April 2011 and it turned out to be the perfect place for us. The unit itself was clean, spacious, and well-appointed, though the plumbing fixtures could use some updating. We enjoyed a lovely view of the water. By far the most valuable perk about this place is the American owner Frank, a very welcoming and helpful host. He told us all of the great spots to visit, how best to get to each and, in our rental Jeep, we toured the most beautiful parts of the island based on Frank's recommendations, including fabulous snorkeling destinations and beautiful views from atop St. John's highest mountain (Bordeaux). The place is just a pleasant 10 minute walk from Cruz Bay and, of course, with a car it is easy to get anywhere. I highly recommend renting a car (either in St. Thomas, taking the car ferry to St. John or on the island itself). There are SO MANY beautiful beaches, but to get to them all in a week, you really need a car. The roads are well-paved and the signage is good. Trunk Bay, of course, is beautiful, but be sure to also check out Hawksnest and little known "Oppenheimer" beach - beautiful and secluded! The snorkeling off Leinster Bay was fabulous - sea turtles, sting rays, colorful fish, starfish, etc. Also, be sure to take a ferry over to Virgin Gorda and visit The Baths - a stunning site of huge boulders right on the beach. Though I prefer not to go to the same destination twice (so much to see in the world!), I would definitely go back to St. John and if I did I would stay at Coconut Coast again.

Room Tip: A top floor room would be a bit quieter having no guests above you.

Coconut Coast Villa was a great hotel for our vacation. The hotel was great and the room perfect (bed was a little bit uncomfortable which was minor to how great the place was)...but we want to highlight how great Liz (manager) truly took time to suggest some great places to visit, provided guidance and facilitated reservations and other activities. You could tell she really wanted us to have a wonderful vacation.

We travel often but this is the first time we took time out to write a review due to the wonderful experience we had. Would recommend this location to travelers that want to experience a great location and are willing to get some great suggestions from Liz!

Can't wait to be back!

We arrived in St John and rented a jeep, and made our way to Coconut Coast Villas. We adored the place, our balcony was right over a rocky beach that delivered the absolute most wonderful soothing sea sounds imaginable. I am not sure I ever slept better :) The room was well equipped and tidy, and we LOVED the balcony. We even grilled some steaks for dinner one evening poolside! Tom did an amazing job of pointing us at things to do & see, and, lucky for us, we did almost every one of them! He recommended a wonderful sail/snorkel trip aboard the Kekoa (very cool boat with one damn cool story) and also told us about the manta ray that had been hanging out at francis bay. These two were my favorite things, the snorkeling was SO AMAZING. And we sure did see that huge manta ray, from about 5 ft away! Oh and how could I forget his recommended hike up to Caneel hill - just walk from the villa into town and get on the trail just behind the visitor's center. Wear sunscreen, and bring h20, but this one was soooo worth it. Breathtaking. Awe inspiring.

We loved that we could come and go as we pleased, there was ample parking for us, and although we found driving on the island somewhat....shall we say... frightening, we bucked up and took it, and were able to get to places at times that made us feel like we were the only people on the whole island. You dont need the jeep to get into town, though, and that was way cool to be able to tie one on and stumble back home...

We will be back. We will stay at Coconut Coast again. Definitely. Thanks so much Tom!
