“Virgin Fire, fine dining!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2014 via mobile

Virgin Fire is a new restaurant in Cruz Bay, St John ( in Mongoose Junction). We had a fabulous meal with excellent service. We were seated at a beautiful outside table under cover on the porch. We tried the flank steak and the Mahi, both were awesome! The creme brûlée was perfect! Highly recommend this fine dining establishment!! Keep up the great work! We will see you again next year!

“Something New in St. John”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

My wife and I have visited St. John at least annually for the last 13 years. We were growing a little tired of our old "favorite" restaurants and had not been too impressed with some of our new selections. By chance we ended up in Virgin Fire in Mongoose bay. The setting was perfect, the staff was great and the food was superb! It was definitely the best meal of our two week stay. The artichoke appetizer was amazing and my yellow fin tuna was fantastic. The staff was incredibly friendly and even remembered us later in the week when they saw us walking by the restaurant. Virgin Fire at the top of our favorites list from now on.

“Disappointing :(”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2014 via mobile

We were looking forward to trying this restaurant having patronized La Plancha and Paradisio in the same location. We had a 7:30 reservation on a Friday evening. They served us ice cold red wine. When questioned the server said they always chill red wine because the island is warm. We've visited St John 15 times, eaten in fine restaurants and have never been served cold, not chilled, but c-o-l-d wine. They were out of one the entrees that 2 of the 4 of us ordered and were out of 3 out of 4 desserts!
Not making a good impression...won't be back.

Thanks for the review, we do appreciate learning when things are not going to plan. Here, we learned that the wine cooler was set to the wrong temperature, and we do apologize for that. Moreover, the server could have handled the situation with more care.

We just completed a reorganization of our kitchen staff which should result in having fewer problems with having everything the menu promises, and hope you will try us again in the future.

Thanks!

“Good but very pricey!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2014

This was the first dinner or our trip of 8 girls and the food was good! I started off with some yellowfin tuna tartare that was delish and very fresh. Had the tamarind bbq ribs for dinner, which just melted off the bone. Had a few mojitos and they went along great with the food, maybe too good as we all kept drinking them. We had a blast and everyone enjoyed our food, we just weren't planning to spend $72/person on dinner.

Hi Alisonpr

Thanks so much for the very positive review, and we're glad you enjoyed! I was a little surprised at the $72 number: our average check is about $35-$40 per person and the menu is designed so that guests can choose from a number of small plates and/or entrees, giving them the opportunity to choose the best portion and appropriate pricing. Everything here is expensive, and we do our best to keep our expenses, and your prices as low as possible, for the quality that we serve. The comments are helpful to the process, and we appreciate them and the visit.

“Lovely setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2014

If you want to dine indoors or on the patio at Mongoose Junction shopping area, Virgin Fire offers a varied menu of well-prepared dishes. I liked the vegetarian option of grilled eggplant. When they have live entertainment it is hard to have a conversation at the table.
