HIGHLY RECOMMEND - WE ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT OUR DAY ON BIG BLUE CONSTANTLY!!! If you are contemplating a sightseeing trip or boat adventure while in St. Thomas, do not hesitate and do not look any further. Captain Wilson is a gem, and our day on Big Blue exceeded every expectation and then some. Traveled with Captain Wilson in early April around St. John and St. Thomas (he will also do trips to British Virgin Islands too) and brought my parents (late 70's) and also children (age 5 and 7). My kids loved him, and he kept them highly involved during the trip pointing our different aspects of the wildlife, making them feel important in the decision making process regarding where to go/what to do, passing out suckers, showing them numerous pictures + info of fish and coral, and a genuine trustworthy and fun personality. My parents in their late 70's enjoyed him tremendously also, he is extremely knowledgeable and they enjoyed the historical component of the sights we were visiting. My wife and i enjoyed him tremendously as well and we couldn't have asked for a more special day - definately the highlilght of our vacation. We received great value for our money during our day - 3 different beautiful snorkling spots (he has all of the gear and also for the kids) a beautiful spot to stop for lunch on Caneel Bay, and a lenghtly sigtseeing tour of several beaches (loved Trunk Bay) and old sugar plantations. Captain Wilson will also snap pictures during your trip and they were emailed to me before I got back to our hotel (including several underwater shots of my family snorkling which were awesome!). We were able to snorkle with turtles which my kids are still talking about the boat and talking about him. Fully stocked cooler with beer, water, pop, and snacks included were definately utilized! Big Blue is a powerboat, so we were definately able to see more spots than if we were sailing in my opinion. Captain Wilson will take you wherever you want to go, will offer numerous suggestions, is highly informed and I am confident you will be talking about your day for a long time after as we still are.
On a side note, Big Blue goes out of Red Hook Harbor, which was about 20 minutes from our hotel at Marriott Frenchmans Reef and Morningstar. You can arrange for him to pick you up elsewhere if it's an issue. Lots of great bars and restaurants at the Red Hook area, and Iggie's was awesome for dinner with kids on the way home to Marriott from Red Hook.
