“A great way to spend a day”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

you get to go to 4 different BVI islands over the course of the day ending up at Jost Van Dyke Island and all the bars. It is worth the money and the staff are great!

“Amazing Day Trip / Questionable Dinghy Rental”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

My husband and I booked the day trip aboard Bad Kitty departing from St. John. The day was just wonderful from start to finish! Try and claim your seat up top with the captain right away - the views were gorgeous. First stop was The Baths at Virgin Gorda. We had a fairly long swim to the island, but they make you wear life jackets, so it was OK and I am not athletic. It was pretty crowded because it is a tourist spot, but a very unique experience that was worth it. Be prepared to climb up and down rocks and in tight spaces. If you are a larger person, you might have issues with this. The only thing I would change is I would have liked to hang out on the beach there more. Second stop was Cooper Island Beach Club - food was nothing special, drinks were pricey. Third stop was snorkling at the Indians. Saw lots of diverse fish and it was a neat place! Fourth stop was Jost, which was so crowded it took a while to find a spot for the boat and we had to swim to the beach. It was a fun place though. I would consider going back on their day trip just to Jost to relax there more. All in all it was a really fun day - the staff was great, and we got to see some cool spots. It ended up being expensive with $40 per person custom fee, $60 lunch and the encouraged 20% tip, but definitely worth it to do once.

Our next experience with the company was renting a dinghy. We specifically said our purpose was to see all of the beaches because the jeep rentals were booked our entire stay. The employee agreed it was a great way to see the beaches, and even pointed out we were saving the $7 per person entry fee to Trunk Bay. Well the one HUGE problem once we got out was that we were only allowed to tie the boat to the mooring balls and they were all REALLY far away from the beaches. The only beach we could possibly swim to (with a lot of effort mind you) was Cinammon Bay. The others were just too far to swim, even with the life jackets. So that was really disappointing. We brought back the dingy within a half day, but they still charged us for the full day of use, even after explaining what happened. I'm still glad we did it because it was cool to see the island/beaches from the water, but I would recommend using it as a snorkling experience, not to try and get onto the beaches. Or ignore their rule and use the dinghy anchor (which you are only instructed to use in emergencies) to get closer to the beaches.

“outstanding trip on Bad Kitty”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

This is the second time we have had the joy of travelling on Bad Kitty. 3 years ago I thought this to be the very best excursion but after this past week, Bad Kitty far surpassed with a superior day.
The ride up to the Baths in some good seas was ably handled by the crew/skipper. The snorkeling spot they took us to was beyond our expectations. It was great to get away from other boats. Lunch on Cooper Island was so enjoyable (try their curried chicken roti) as we watched all the sailboats out on Sir Francis Drake Channel. You get such a grand tour of so many islands on this trip. Bad Kitty is not to be missed if you like the sea, snorkeling and island hopping. This is a class operation and not some drunk party barge. Top rate operation!

“Fast & Furious”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

Well, not furious. Just a little disappointed. Fast & comfortable boat, good crew. Lots of territory to cover in one day. Unhappy that the Captain decided that it was too rough to swim in to the Baths in Virgin Gorda. Our sister boat, Bad Kitty 1, allowed its passengers to swim in while we took the "long path" down from landward. It was an unpleasant hike as opposed to a short swim or an easy walk using the other trail from the top. Lunch on Cooper Island was as pleasant as it was 20 years ago. The dive site (Peter Island?), was a bit murky without much to see that day. White Beach and the Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke was a bit of a let down. With the passage of 20 years, there is now a road all the way to the beach and electricity. Last visit there was just the bar and 2 beach cabanas to rent. Now there are half a dozen or so bars lining the shore and a 20 minute wait to order the famous Painkiller. Cost of the trip including fares, custom fees, and crew tips came out to $860 for our party of 4. Lunch and drinks not included in that figure.

“Perfect day trip to the BVIs”
Reviewed February 11, 2014

My wife and I just got off the Bad Kitty today. We both had a very good time. The crew is very knowledgeable, and attentive. The boat is clean and rides very smooth across the waves. We got to see and do a lot in one day for a reasonable price. The Baths at Virgin Gorda are magnificent. There is a 100 meter swim in to the Baths from the Bad Kitty followed by a guided tour inside the Baths. After the Baths we stopped off for lunch at the Cooper Island Beach Club. The food is good at the Beach Club and it is reasonably priced. After lunch we snorkeled at the Caves on Norman Island and saw a few colorful fish. After our snorkel stop then it was off to the bars on White Bay for some Pain Killers and a walk on the beach. If you like Rum you have to try the Pain Killers at the Soggy Dollar Bar. We left White Bay for Cruz Bay for the end of the tour wishing it didnt have to be over, Bad Kitty is the way to go for a day trip to BVI!!
