“Relaxed, beautiful, away from the crowds of Cruz Bay”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

Coral Bay is fun, picturesque, and much less crowded than Cruz Bay. There is just a tiny bit of shopping in terms of art and trinkets - but still worth checking out, along with some great restaurants. It is on the way to a number of great beaches and hiking trails so definitely plan to stop for breakfast/lunch/dinner on your way in and/or out. Of course, you could always stay in Coral Bay like we do to enjoy the cool ocean breezes (much breezier than Cruz Bay), much more picturesque setting and quiet nights away from all the tourists/bars.

“Salt Pond Bay”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

It was beautiful there! A rocky start to entering water, but then excellent! After you park, you will need to hike a half mile to bay...and back. No facilities but worth the trip!

“"Island Time" and "No Worries"”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

If you are going to be staying on St. John and you are trying to decide between Coral Bay and Cruz Bay, don't sweat it too much. One would have to work exceptionally hard to not enjoy being anywhere on the island. Cruz Bay is a bit more crowded but offers more conveniences (taxis, banks, full service groceries, gas stations) as well as the opportunity to stroll amongst the many appealing places to shop, eat, and drink.

We were looking to stay somewhere where we could unplug and get in a different frame of mind and Coral Bay turned out to fit the bill quite nicely. It is considerably less polished than Cruz Bay but that is its charm. Some of the things we appreciated about Coral Bay:

- enjoying unspoiled views of the East End of the island
- taking short drives to interesting and memorable places to eat and drink (Vie's Snack Shack,
Skinny Legs, The Tourist Trap, Aqua Bistro)
- savoring the dependable and refreshing easterly breezes
- interacting with amiable and pleasantly informal locals
- being able to explore the diversity of St. John from a central location: no more than 20 minute
drive to the snorkeling and beaches of the North Shore, the East End, and the South Shore
- taking pictures of donkeys
- chartering a sail/snorkel trip to Flanagan Island and Hurricane Hole
- kayaking East End bays
- marveling at morning sunrises and the evening sky

Book a Coral Bay villa, rent a Jeep, and pack light. No worries.

“Funky”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

The real locals and weirdos of St John. Funky, fun place to eat and shop. Great views of BVI islands. Fun hang-out for the day. Lots of donkeys wondering free, goats, chickens, dogs and cats. Very calm and relaxed attitude from the locals. Really fun bars and restaurants.
