Coral Bay isn't for everybody. If you like lots of restaurant choices and the nightlife and convenience of Cruz Bay - then Coral Bay probably won't be your choice.

I like relaxing after a long day at the beach! lol And Coral Bay is perfect. The views from lots of the villas are crazy - looking down the BVIs. There are a couple of great spots for food and drink ...Aqua Bistro, Skinny Legs, Cases By the Sea / Reggie's BBQ and Sweet Plantains.

Have rented villas in Coral Bay area 4X: we bring carry-on bags to save time @STT since you can wear casual clothing w/o extra items & purchase suntan lotion (some villas supply shampoo/etc). Love being on hill looking out to glimmering sea (and sunrise) & gorgeous views of other islands--serence. Most villas reachable on paved roads w/just last few min on bumpy road. Still unspoiled--lush vegetation, wandering cute donkeys, plenty of open space/privacy. People so friendly. Convenient to walk to jeep rental upon arrival from ferry dock & pick up groceries @Star Fish Market in Cruz Bay before heading to villa. Villas well equipped to handle breakfast/lunch--then nice dinner out ea evening. Recommend A/C in bdrms although some like great breezes. Great array of restaurants (only open late Nov-July--plan wisely). Excellent seafood specials @favorite Shipwreck Landing (+great cheeseburger); upscale dining @Sweet Plantains w/changing menu; good breakfast @Donkey Diner; love Aqua Bistro (expecially tuna entrees); sports bar w/cheap sandwiches @Skinny Legs; live music w/decent food @Island Blues. Day trip to Jost Van Dyke well worth it. Stayed in late Dec or Jan as a couple--but returning this yr in April w/family by Mamey Peak o have 5-min drive to Francis Bay (uncrowded) + other north beaches. Clear turquoise water + white sand cannot be surpassed relative to ease of getting to St John vs. other non-U. S. Islands. Villa rental agencies very helpful on details. Peaceful Paradise--hope it doesn't change!

We loved being in Coral Bay - gorgeous views, cute & yummy restaurants, close to North Shore beaches as well as East and South ends.

the views cannot be beat. There isn't much to do, there aren't many restaurants and those that are here are relaxed, open air eateries. Just my style! just have to know the web sites make things out to be a little better than they are. The roads are often rough, there are donkeys and sheep on the roads, the roosters crow all night, the doves in the morning, the frogs in the evening. But we loved it

Great day on St. John. Started with a hike up Bordeaux Mountain and then snorkeling at Lameshur. Saw a stingray, nurse shark, squid, +++. Dip in the pool and lovely dinner.
