“small town atmosphere”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

the views cannot be beat. There isn't much to do, there aren't many restaurants and those that are here are relaxed, open air eateries. Just my style! just have to know the web sites make things out to be a little better than they are. The roads are often rough, there are donkeys and sheep on the roads, the roosters crow all night, the doves in the morning, the frogs in the evening. But we loved it

“Oh so sweet!”

Great day on St. John. Started with a hike up Bordeaux Mountain and then snorkeling at Lameshur. Saw a stingray, nurse shark, squid, +++. Dip in the pool and lovely dinner.

“Cozy”

Coral Bay is more quiet than Cruz Bay but offers beautiful beaches and wonderful eateries like Miss Lucy's, Concordia and Skinny Legs. Nice snorkeling and the beaches aren't as crowded.

“First time to USVI, Coral Bay on St. John was amazing!!”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Hey all, we just returned from a wonderful week at Slice of Life on Coral Bay, St. John, USVI. I highly recommend it for a couple looking for a comfortable, well built place to stay. Situated on a hillside with breezes most of the time, you see the sun rise each morning, and are serenaded to sleep by the birds and other island animals each night. The host, Fitz, is a great guy. He is a very quiet and soft spoken, helpful guy who knows his way around the island. Our favorite snorkel and relax beaches were on the south side, but to be fair, there was high surf on the north side and it was not good visibility because of it. Most everything is twice the price from home, and while I don't want to short change the grocers, I would suggest bringing what you can in your luggage. We could have brought coffee, granola bars, nuts, crackers, etc, with us to reduce our grocery bill. Dining out is costly, too, however, the food is great, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the fact is-you aren't cooking. We dined at Shipwreck, Skinny Legs, Concordia, and Aqua Bistro on the Coral Bay side. When in Cruz, we stopped at the Deli in Mongoose Junction for awesome sandwiches to take with us as we explored 20 on the north side. This island is quiet, the residents are hard working, and the environment is high priority (water conservation, etc). While we were familiar with the motto "If its yellow, let it mellow", it took a day or so to get used to the "No paper in the toilet" rule.

It was our first visit to any of the virgin islands, and we will definitely be back.

“Spectacular views and sunrise, quirky place”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

The "8 Tough Miles" sticker on the cars is earned- but once you get here its beautiful. Quirky restaurants, quirky but friendly people. Far nicer place to stay than Cruz Bay- but do NOT come here without a Jeep or other 4 Wheel drive vehicle in good shape. If a billy goat can walk it, they will build a skinny, scary and spectacular road to it here. Regardless, the drive only makes the place more special and secret. Very quiet at nite, exquisite by day, a bit of a throw back - its seems this is where all those folks that are stuck in the 70's came.
