We liked Vie's so much we went twice in a row. We were snorkeling at Haulover and drove the extra mile to Vie's. The garlic fried chicken is so fresh, the johnny cakes tasty, the conch fritters great, and the coconut tart very nice.

We always enjoy eating in St. John with the chickens walking around, fun watching their antics. There were several colorful ones hanging out at Vie's.

There's a reason people drive to Vie's when there are more convenient restaurants. It is good food and good to support her restaurant, which is very lovingly run.

A shack by the side of the road way out toward East End. We've had the garlic chicken and the Johnny Cakes (and hot dogs once). Go early - she runs out of food. Food is tasty and fresh. Not gourmet. But fun.

Besides the fact that the view on the drive to Vie's is AMAZING, the fried chicken and johnny cake with honey was my favorite thing I ate on my entire Virgin Islands vacation. We got there before she was opened but she said she would go ahead and make us some food. Since it was going to take a little bit, we paid $2.50 to go onto her beautiful little stretch of private beach. It's a little cove and there was only one other couple there. So beautiful and worth the $2.50. It is about 12 miles from the ferry dock. After the "highway" road ends, keep driving! Basically when you come to what looks like the end of even that road, look for a one-room building on the left.

Vie's can cook up some amazing fried chicken like grandma used to make. We planned our day around a visit to Vie's and it was worth it. We'd eat there more often if it closer to town and had longer hours. Call ahead to make sure she is open 340.693.5033. It takes a while for your order so make sure your clock is set to island time - visit the beach while you wait.

Get a real taste of the Caribbean. Garlic Fried Chicken with Rice & Beans, Rice & Beans with Curried Meat Sauce, Conch Fritters (possibly best I've ever had), Johnny Cakes & Pineapple or Coconut Tart with amazing crisp, spiced crust to finish you off.

All of this wonderful food cooked with just minimal equipment in a Beachside Shack. Places like this are what make St. John and the Caribbean truly unique. Spend a leisure afternoon on Vie's beach after you eat, the snorkeling is pretty good too.
