“Awesome Beach with Banana Cabana serving drinks!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2013

We took a bus (open air) just outside our ship to Sapphire Beach. We told them where we wanted to go and they put us with others that wanted to go there or to another beach close by. When we were ready to leave, there was another bus there to pick us up. Cost was $10pp each way, but well worth it.
You can rent chairs for $7 each. You can also rent scuba & snorkel gear. AND, you can buy food to feed the fish.
The fish are pretty close to the beach so if you are nervous about snorkeling this is a great beach to try.
There are rocks in some areas of the beach and also in the water- so be careful. There is a lot of coral in the water but you can't take it with you!
They have drink and food service on the beach from the Banana Cabana. They have a small selection of food- burgers, fish sandwich- and the Mahi Mahi sandwich was Awesome!
You can use a charge card for $25 up.
The beach was plenty crowded, but not so bad that we were uncomfortable.
A rain storm was coming up and the "no-see-ums" were coming out so we left.
We would return here in a heartbeat! Super clean, super friendly!

“nice quiet beach”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2013

We went to Sapphire beach because we didn't want to be around a lot of crowds. This was the right pick when we got there it was not very crowded just a few people there. We got a spot under the trees so we would have some shade. The water was great but a ton of shells and rocks at the water line I would suggest water shoes. I got a cut on my foot. It looks like they are repairing the area from the hurricanes. They had sections gated off where they are doing repairs.

“Lovely”

A great place to spend Thanksgiving with the family! Our condo was right next to the Marina, which was so convenient when going on the Pirate's Paradise Adventures boat day trip! Gorgeous views of St. John and a great beach for all!

“BUSY BUSY BUSY”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

We were at Sapphire in April 2013. If you're on a cruise, you're likely considering Coki, Magens or Sapphire. Depending on where your ship is docked, Crown Bay or Havensite and considering traffic, either beach will be very, very close to the same distance.

We usually use Godfreys Taxi service (prebooked) for $25 per person which includes a stop downtown to get to Coki or Magens and back to ship. We used a random taxi guy to get to Sapphire $10 - he agreed to come back for us for another $10. If you want your day to include shopping then prebook someone like Godfrey (however he won't take you to Sapphire).

We got to Sapphire at 9:30 and beat the tour buses. Lots of loungers, got some shade but they wouldn't rent us snorkeling equipment because "tour buses were coming". They we're very unapologetic about it... obviously tour busses are big business for them.

Sapphire's beach is slightly longer and deeper than Coki but the sand is definitely rougher.
The people poured in all morning. It got busier and busier. This didn't effect our enjoyment at all but we were amazed at how many zillions of people seem to arrive.

Chairs at Coki were $5. At Sapphire $7. Subject to change I'm sure!

Bathrooms at Coki were ok. Bathrooms at Sapphire were Despicable. Smelly filthy. NO toilet paper in the ladies for most of the day. Drinks were delicious and prices were fine but the bathrooms are a deal breaker for me.
