Owner description: Hailed as one of the world's most beautiful, this breathtaking bay along St. Thomas' rugged north coast is ideal for swimming and snorkeling with all the conveniences of parking, lifeguards, equipment rental, freshwater showers, restaurants and bars.

$4 per person (not a V.I. resident) for a beach. Granted the Beach is beautiful, when it isn't covered with cruise ship tourists. The view is gorgeous a mountain on each side and an island in between. The bottom is sandy and smooth. Waves are non-existent. You can kayak or paddle board your heart out. Very few fish. Go on a kayak tour to the mangrove lagoon if that is your cup-o-tea. Beautiful, but I would have rather stayed at Frenchman's cove.

For a small admission fee, you can relax at one of the world's best beaches. Loads of shade, lots of space, and stunning scenery.
The beach is huge, quiet, and a great place for lovers and families alike.
There are life guards, and the swim area is marked off. Bring your snorkel gear, pack a picnic, but be aware glass bottles are not allowed on the beach. Be discreet with alcohol.
There is a bar at the entrance to the beach, and it is jammed when tours when cruise ships are in. We walked further along the beach and it was very quiet there. There are iguanas and birds looking for unattended food, so keep it covered.

This is probably one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve been to and it’s great for families with its calm, clear and not too deep water. We were in St.Thomas for the day off our cruise ship and rather than taking one of the ship’s excursions, we decided on making our own way here. The shuttle buses are all lined up at the dock, waiting to take passengers to different points around the island.

It costs $8 per person each way and expect to pay the same for young children. We did manage to get half price for our six year old both ways but that was only because of the drivers as there is no official child rate. In fact, our driver to the beach just came out and offered the special rate for every child. On the other hand, I’m pretty sure our son was the only child who got a special rate on the way back because we pretty much had to press the issue with the next driver away from everyone else.

There is an entrance fee to the beach of $4 for adults, $2 for children 13 and over and free for children 12 and under. And don’t worry about getting back to the dock, there are plenty of shuttles there waiting to take passengers back to their cruise ships.

There is a boutique, restaurant and bar on site, which is where most people will set themselves up on the beach and they do accept credit cards. If you want something a little less busy, all you need to do is go further down the beach. Chairs, towels and lockers are available for rent, and there are plenty of picnic tables and shaded areas that go the length of the beach. There are several restrooms/changing rooms spread out along the beach as well.

It was also possible to rent paddle boards and kayaks the day we were there. I am really not sure if they are there every day because although they were located right on the beach, they actually aren’t affiliated with the authority that manages it. Only cash is accepted.

Lunch was actually much tastier than we expected and the portions were a good size as well. Although they do have waitresses from the bar that will go to the beach, I suggest going to get the drinks yourself as they don’t have too many and they are also tough to spot. They actually blend in with everyone else visiting the beach with their bathing suits.

One suggestion I do have is that it would be nice if they had a mobile drink/snack cart so that they could sell cold drinks and munchies to people who rather setup further down the beach. It did get a bit crowded around the bar/restaurant.

I definitely suggest visiting Magens Bay while in St.Thomas.
