“BEAUTIFUL Beach, avoid cruise days”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

This beach is gorgeous. The sand is soft and the water is so calm and blue. My family and I visited the beach two days while in St Thomas (one on a big cruise day), and a second time (not on a big cruise day)

Positives: beautiful, calm blue water, bathrooms, food, and drink on site (food and drink a bit pricey but that's expected for a big tourist spot)

Negatives: since this beach is so great, many people tend to flock here from the cruise ships. Although there were a lot of cruise ship visitors one day, the beach was still wonderful (not packed like the Jersey Shore).

I definitely recommend visiting Magens Bay while in St Thomas for it's beauty!! Also, there are cute mongooses (or is it mongeese) running around!

“Another terrific beach day at Magens Bay”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

My wife and I were recently on a cruise vacation and revisited the Magens Bay Beach while in St Thomas. We have been to St Thomas many times and regularly visit this wonderful beach. The sand is very smooth and withour rock and shell. The water is calm and crystal clear. There are changing facilities and bathrooms as well as facilities for food and drinks. We highly recommend this beach and will return. It is our favorite beach of the many we have visited in the Caribbean.

“A Great Day at the Beach”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

What a beautiful beach and a great drive across the island to get there. The sand is soft and clean and the water is clear and warm. There are some beautiful fish and great swimming. You can rent chairs, floats, and stand-up surf boards. There is food for sale, a little pricy. There are showers, restrooms, and changing rooms. It was clean! There was a charge to get in, I think it was about $4. Not sure as we were on an excursion bus and the cost was covered.

“Spectacularly beautiful”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

I went to Magens Bay on a RC cruise excursion. The driver,Gomez, from the cruise port to the beach was entertaining. He had a lot of jokes to tell on the trip, as well as pointing out interesting bits of information about the area as he drove to the beach. He pointed out the different types of trees along the road. He pointed out buildings that were particularly old and had been through many hurricanes, etc. The road to the beach goes up a step hill where we stopped at a scenic spot for pictures of Magens Bay which we could see down below us. It was really a beautiful spot seeing the ocean, and beach from that high vantage point. The trip to the beach might about been around 20 minutes each way. The beach is not super long, maybe a mile from one end to another. With the hills on the side of the bay, and behind the beach I felt like I was in a very quiet, secluded spot. There were some sail boats in the bay, and palm trees behind the beach. Hard to imagine a prettier place. The water is very clear and pretty, and the sand is nice and smooth, not a lot of rocks around. On the ride back we stopped near the top of the hill again, but this time in a scenic spot that overlooked the harbor where our cruise ship was. This was also a very pretty spot with a great view of the ocean, and the harbor and the little town below.

One thing that I noticed about my stops in the Caribbean on this trip is that the people that work on the excursions usually indicated in some way that they appreciated tips, but they were never pushy about it. Our driver Gomez had a small sign in his bus that said "God watches you when you tip". But, when the trip was over I noticed he didn't even have a tip basket or anything. He stood back as people exited without acting like he was expecting anything.

“Worth the small admission fee”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

Longest stretch of beach in St. Thomas with rental beach chairs and amenities as well as a cafe if you are very hungry. If you go on the weekend you will likely see many celebrations from birthday parties to weddings.
