The only reason i am not giving the site an excellent is because the water is really cold and there is lack of restaurants. Other than that this place is perfect

We liked the long stretch of beach for walking. The water is beautiful and calm. We didn't like that you have to pay to get in. Although it keeps the locals out. You can rent beach chairs and floats.

We heard such great things about this beach... We were disappointed. The beach itself was beautiful.. They charge you to get on the beach, and then charge you more for a lounge chair...
The food service area is grungy, the staff extremely rude. The food staff was rude and the food outrageously overpriced for what you got.. The same can be said for the gift shop staff very rude and the merchandise outrageously overpriced.. The life guard and chair rental staff were friendly enough but they were working for tips. The bathrooms were grungy, smelly and dirty.. Not worth the trip or money involved..

Don't get me wrong, this place is beautiful. However, it is gets really crowded and feels like a bit of a tourist trap.

The best thing to do is enjoy the view of Megans Bay from the top of the hill on Route 37.

We were on a cruise ship, docked in St. Thomas for the day. We've been to this island many times but never visited Magens Bay. Having heard it's rated as one of the top ten beaches, we felt the need to spend some time there, and booked a tour from the cruise ship which covered our admission into the park. Unfortunately, the same day, the Disney cruise ship descended upon Magens Bay with a zillion kids. They had two rows of lounge chairs all along the beach. We had a picnic table where we could sit and put our belongings.

It was a lovely sunny day and the water was that awesome blue/green Caribbean color. The white sand is very soft and fine and I was able to walk a long way out in the shallow water. I can't say it was crystal clear because there were so many people splashing around at the time. It was a comfortable temperature. At one point, a huge wave came up behind me and knocked me flat on my rear in the water so if you have little kids, you really have to watch them every minute.

There are washrooms, a souvenir shop and boutique as well as a snack bar where we purchased a cold beer. It was all adequate for the area.

As much as we enjoyed the early afternoon watching the pelicans dive for fish, listening to all the birds chirping in the trees above the picnic table (and looking for bread crumbs), going in and out of the water, it was just a little too hectic that particular day. It is a truly awesome beach, although rating it one of the top TEN is a pretty high mark. Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more on a quiet day.
