“Great for families”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

We just spend five nights at the facility in a two bedroom villa. This is perfect for our family of five. The villa had plenty of room and great amenities. My only complaint is the quality of the bed and sheets in the "master bedroom". The mattress on the king size bed was not the usual quality I expect at a Marriott property. The sheets were also of a lower quality than I expect. The two queen size beds in the second bedroom were much better.

There is plenty of activities for the family. The pool area is great. We also visited the Marriott Frenchman's Reef and Morningstar resort. The pool area at Reef/Star are nice but not geared towards children. If you are on a romantic get away and not with the children the Reef/Star may be better suited for you. However, Frenchman's Cove is definitely the place for a family.

I will definitely return with the family in tow in the future.

This is one of my favorite hotels/condos in St. Thomas. We shared a 2 bedroom/2 bath condo unit with another couple! It was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed. The pool was fabulous and was right on the beach. LOVED the daily "happy hour" for guests... one day it was tequila another day it was wines. The rooms are very well appointed and clean. Maid service was great... all of the staff at this resort were very accommodating and friendly. The beach was clean and we really enjoyed the trampoline and inflatable waterslide. We did venture over to the sister-property at Frenchman's Reef (you can use the facilities at the sister resort as well). Would be a great place, but really needed some updating. The infinity pool would be amazing but the water was not clean (cloudy with questionable floating debris). We didn't stay long and retreated back to paradise at The Cove. Treat yourself to the most amazing dinner of your life... Havana Blue! Pricey but worth every scrumptious bite! Would revisit this resort in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Choose a corner room if possible, the balcony is a bit larger.

We stayed here for our honeymoon. We were able to afford the hotel with a AAA discount and another offer. Unfortunately, when we got to our room after checking in, it was not clean. Our bellboy Ken called down to the desk and got us upgraded to a beachfront room! Ken was really the only great service we had during our whole stay. The other staff did not go out of their way to be friendly. When we were checking out, the woman working with us was not friendly, but was incredibly friendly to the couple she was as chatting to behind us during the process. We also did not receive any honeymoon perks that other reviewers mentioned.

In regards to housekeeping, trash was kept in piles at the bottom of the stairs. We saw our pizza box there for 2 days. Also a sconce broke outside of our door at night and wasn't cleaned up until the next afternoon.

The views and setting were perfection. We took advantage of the free shuttle to Frenchman's Cove for snorkeling and also swam frequently at the beach and pools. Our room was also in great shape, was cool, and very comfortable.

Captain Scott was very fun and personable! He made the ride from the Marriott Frenchman's Reef into town go by quick and without a dull moment, sharing numerous fun facts and interesting stories. He was extremely knowledgeable about sites to see, good places to eat/drink, and even history about the island. We made sure to take his water taxi on the way back to the resort as well, where he was just as friendly and sharing more interesting stories. The water taxi with Captain Scott is a 'must do' during your stay at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef!

This lovely resort is nestled into the cliff/hill on the outskirts if Charlotte Amalie overlooking the beach. You can gaze at the cruise ships as they glide by the resort.

The resort facilities are all on/ near the beach. A DIY barbecue area overlooks the sea with seating, popular in the evenings. The beach/pool bar offers typical salads and burgers etc.
Our lovely yellow unit had everything that's Marriott and great beds.

Do you need a car? Well, before you decide these are your transport options. There is a tug boat that transports you to and from Charlotte Amalie's centre, such fun. The resort has a buggy service which brings you up to the lobby simply by making a call. They also provide a shuttle service to the Marriott "next door", Fishermans Creek, which can also be accessed by foot on a specified walkway. The beach is lovely at the Sand Bar where they serve delicious tacos.
Taxis are 10€ everywhere but per person!!
A car works out from approximately 400$ + for a basic enough model. Ask for the full price as add ins are a nuisance when getting a quote. Know what insurance your credit card covers you for.

.
On Mon. Night the Marriott hosts a barbecue on the beach. There is an endless supply of food for 2 hours. The entertainment on the beach was very good.A group played reggae music, there was a fire dancer and "happy holiday" dance competition. The sun was setting and the beach was packed.

As for us Europeans nightlife is lacking on the island, we spent a pleasant evening at Iggies listening to music, Duffys late and Tap and Still to watch the World Cup and eat their burgers.

SHOPPING
for food items is in the Pueblo supermarket which could do with a complete makeover. Overpriced and grotty! Gourmet shop is more expensive. Walmart or is it K Mart (not the small shop near Pueblo but the large one at TuTu)is apparently cleaner and better value. We also popped into the supermarket in Red Hook. A staff member was so rude to me I will never return. Considering their tuna was 44$ a kilo they should have been polite as I didn't see any queues !
It was good to see the island and visit Saint John.
However, if I ever return, I would spend all my time in the Marriott resorts.
The staff are very friendly and polite in their own laid back way!

The resort is so beautiful, every room has a view that will amaze. What I liked was even when rooms were full it never felt crowded.Marriott service is second to none...that I know off and I certainly could not have asked for a better location on St Thomas. We were close to their beautiful downtown shopping and restaurants and a short scenic ferry ride over to St Johns. Beaches on both islands are gorgeous . Hope to go back !

We stayed 1 week at Marriotts Frenchman's Cove in mid June as we traded our Myrtle Beach week for it..

Overall, very lovely resort.. The beach although small is great.. Decent snorkeling about 50 ft out.. Private and never too crowded.. The pool was great.. My kids loved the waterslide.. Activities were pretty good.. The 2:00 bingo was always fun and the scavenger hunt for kids was a blast.. Always could find a chair close to the pool.. Night swimming is fun.. The iguanas are fun to see.. If you go to Coral World, there are 10 times as many..

Location of the resort is perfect.. It's great to have access to the Marriott hotel amenities.. Havana Blue restaurant was nice.. We rented a car and hit Pueblo market a few times which was right down the hill.. Close to everything on the island.. 20 min to the Ferry to St. John..

Minor Annoyances - No salt and pepper in the kitchens.. They actually sell it at the marketplace.. Kind of ridiculous that this isn't thought of for the villas.. The poolside restaurant is quite overpriced as well, but I get it, it's an island..

Overall, very nice resort with a great location and good amenities.. Views are great from the villas no matter what building or floor you are in..

Room Tip: Bring the little things to your villa like Salt and Pepper
