This resort is unbelievable and one to be experienced. The rooms are so roomy and feel like home! You have all the comforts that you would expect. Beautiful granite and stainless steel kitchens. Spacious living rooms... comfortable and roomy bedrooms. Well decorated... The views are breath taking (and I was born and grew up in St. Thomas), but even I was blown away and had the opportunity to view the island as a tourist!

I have stayed at Frenchman's Reef and the hotel is great... but the cove is the place to stay!!!

It is fantastic!!! And I highly recommend staying there. You will absolutely love it!

Overall, the resort is fantastic. I have read other reviews here and understand what some of the issues are, as we experienced them as well. First off, if you are not an owner of a timeshare here, you will most likely be in the back buildings. All of the buildings are awesome, but it will take a couple of elevator rides to get to the pool and market place. The rooms are very nice, fully loaded and comfortably sleep 5-6. The kitchen has everything, and these units are best if you go out to the local stores and buy groceries. We cooked several meals to help save on the overall expense of a vacation. The staff was very nice and accomodating, and we asked for some extra towels, and within 5 minutes, the person was there with our extra towels. The Sunset Grill bar has some great food, but be cautious at happy hour. The 2 for 1 drinks are in smaller cups, it appears, so the bargain is not a good as you think.

Room Tip: If you are in a back building, request a the highest floor you can get. The first two floors view t...

There are 3 different Marriott properties right next to each other! We stayed at Cove. Great for families, has kitchen and washer/dryer.
Rent a car if you can, taxis cost $8-10 per person (babies too) each way. Group of 5 we paid $110 round trip every night , plus airport fare was about $1,000 week!!!
Groceries: super expensive more than Hawaii, just few examples pound if grapes $8, 8oz blueberries $8, Special K cereal $9, coffee $30, bring as much food with you as you can. Stores all dirty They do have target for diapers and other stuff
Liquor: we got 6 packs beer at grocery store $8, but at resort they charge you that for one beer! Wine is cheaper too!
Restaurants: marina restaurant was good and hilltop was good as well. Blue at martiott very bland -and expensive.
St. John island at trunks bay is horrible!!! Views were breathtaking, water was beautiful but its a state park there is entry fee from $4-6 per person, shower facility disgusting cockroaches crawling on walls, their little food hut is unsanitary. Cheap Walmart white lawn chair rental $25 and umbrella $50, and lots of BEE hives in many trees along the beach!

The Marriott Frenchman's Cove is a fantastic, relaxing and enjoyable property. The beach is great with scenic snorkeling. It is centrally located in St. Thomas. It allows for easy access to the rest of the island. There are many scheduled events. The rooms are nice, clean, new and have great views. The Jost Van Dyke building is where we stayed and it had great views! The property was better than the actual hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Make sure you rent a car to enjoy the island as taxi's are extremely expensive. Bring frozen meats to grill as the grocery stores do not offer much in this category. The barbecues have marble table tops with huge brand new grills. Our fishing expedition picked us up at the dock. The pool is right on the beach. The iguanas were interesting but not bad especially with a very scared 10 year old girl. She didn't even worry. Highly recommend and am going back next year!

Room Tip: Jost Van Dyke building!

Our family has stayed at this property several times and it is fantastic. Great pool, easy access to beach with great activities such as snorkeling, catamaran, etc. Villa's are fantastic all with ocean view. Resort is great for families or couples, and access to Morningstar beach and adjacent Marriott resort amenities (spa, several great resturants, infinity poos etc) are key.

Room Tip: Request the Tortola villa for a room right on the ocean where you can hear the sea at night.

We stayed at the Marriott Frenchman's Cove as Marriott Vacation Club owners from another resort. After reading some reviews here, I was afraid we were going to end up with a view of a dumpster. However, we were very happy with the view of the water from our second floor unit in the St John building which is in the row farthest away from the water. The resort explained to us that owners of this property have first right to choose rooms and that since so many owners return to this property, non-owners don't usually get the first-row building rooms or high floors. If I owned here, I'd want the same treatment. Although there was only one pool and the beach was pretty small, we never had a problem getting a chair in a nice location and it never seemed crowded. They had activities all day long and into the evening that kept the grandkids really busy. Yes, the drinks and food were expensive just as they are at every Marriott I've visited. That is why we went to the grocery store and did some cooking on the nice gas grills. And yes we did have to get on 3 elevators to get to the pool/beach areas, but it never seemed to be an issue. The room ice maker couldn’t keep up with our consumption so we stopped at the bar every day and got a bag of ice at no charge. Each evening they also had flavored liquor tasting for the adults. Everyone who worked at the resort was nice and had a great attitude. We’ve stayed at many Marriott resorts and this one was fabulous!.

This was a 4nt Babymoon trip (we also brought my husband's parents with us).
We had a choice to stay at the Reef or Morningstar, but we opted for the timeshare because we needed 2 bedrooms and the kitchen was a plus.

We stayed in Building D, second floor, right off the elevator, view of the roof of pool area. We had water views, just not a 100% unobstructed view as I had hoped. I asked the front desk to put me closest to the pool because I didnt want myself or my in-laws to walk very far to the pool area and beach, so they literally put us the closest room to the elevator and the lowest floor, the closest access to the pool/beach area. Whatever, it was fine.

Room:
Super clean, as described, no smell of mildew. There is a Kleenair device that filters or ionizes the air in the unit. They could vacuum better. Bathrooms are immaculate. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils and basics. Very convenient to have a washer dryer. We washed clothes and dried bathing suits everyday it seemed. Kinda bad wireless internet connectivity in our room.

Beach/pool:
I guess we arrived during a slow time because there wasn't a ton of people. Pool is small but nice. Beach is also small and quaint. Plenty of chairs in the pool and beach area. Need to be careful of the reef, but there is a small path you can walk through without shoes. They have snorkel gear to rent, but if you can bring your own, it's better--there are a ton of small fish. There are also inflatables to enjoy, a trampoline and a climbing wall. they looked like fun. We swam EVERYDAY. No wireless access at the pool area.

We visited the other properties using the shuttle they provide (Morningstar and Reef). The Reef hotel is really nice, you can tell the clientele there are couples, young vacationers and older families whereas the Cove is mostly retirees and large groups/young families, not as busy. The Reef pool area is large with multiple pool areas but was super crowded. Although they have bigger beach at Morningstar and Reef, and a better resort-feel, I still preferred the Cove because of it's intimacy.

Cons about the Cove:
Only one person at help desk at all times it seemed, and there was always people there with questions, just waiting....
The elevator is the SMALLEST and slowest elevator ever.
You had to take 3 elevators from Lobby to Pool area. Not good for those who are not physically fit. Lots of walking.

Didn't try any of the food options anywhere except for the grill next to the pool which wasnt bad at all. Pricey, but what on site restaurant isn't? If you can, eat off site or buy food (we did, we even brought a small rice cooker with us!)

Overall, if I had to go back, I would--compared to other comparable properties on the island. And we drove everywhere, so we know where everywhere else is situated and we were not disappointed with our stay. If you can (and if you are staying more than 2 days), rent a car--you'll get used to driving on the other side of the road and it's so much more convenient and cheaper than taxi-ing it everywhere. Don't rent from Hertz though!!!! And take the car over to St. John's where you will visit the most amazing beaches in the world.

Room Tip: Building D is smack in the middle, but ask for a high floor. You'll get the best views.
