Well kept property. Considerate and very friendly staff and I mean everyone from the front desk staff to maintenance to housekeeping to food service. They go out of their way to greet you and make sure our vacation is great.

We will be back next year for another two weeks.

My husband and I stayed at Frenchman's Cove for a quick winter getaway and it was beautiful!! Our villa was a 2 bedroom with a full kitchen and living room area. Lucky for us, we were renting so we got a "tidy clean" everyday - otherwise you'd only get it mid-week. I just dont like to make my own bed on vacation! There was easy parking right under (or infront) of our building every time which was great!!

The resort was lovely - nice pool area (water VERY cold!) and access to their small beach (but quiet and very nice!).

One of the highlights was the easy access water ferry that is right from the Cove pier - very convienient and "Captain Chris" is very personable and helps with island tips before shopping!

We also had a fender bender (welcome to the VI) and the security was lovely in coming to check on us and waiting for the police to come so we could have a report for our insurance claim.

The resort is kept in immaculate shape as you will see people ALL day long cleaning, raking the beach, driving around etc.

Biggest downfall is that with the FANTASTIC location means that you will need to walk up MANY hills IF you do not learn the elevator system! To get to the main office from the pool, you need to take the elevator in building 2 (Across from the pool) to the main level - then take a LEFT and walk to the furthest building and take the elevator in that building to the top floor, which will be the lobby. Take my word for it - this will save your knees (and possibly life with these drivers!!)

The food at Sunset up at the Reef is delicious! HOWEVER, be forwarned that on certain nights it is "Carnival Night" which means VERY loud music with a fire breather which is cool - but if you are trying to have a nice dinner with conversation, it will not happen on this night! And with their prices ($30+ per entree) I'd like to hear the people I came with. But again, food was FANTASTIC!! We had the steak, lobster, salmon etc... everyone greatly enjoyed their meal!!

OH - you are also facing SUN SET - which means you will have a wonderful view each and every night from your oceanfront villas for a beautiful sunset AND the lights of Charlote Amalie!!

There are plenty of beach chairs both at the pool and the beach - and there are REALLY fun water activities between the water trampoline (which sadly some of the people take as a sunbathing place which means you can't jump on it!) to the ice burg water climbing wall which is also great fun!

Definitely a great place to stay if you like the extra room with a large family or multiple families. You can easily go to the Kmart and pick up food for making sandwiches and cooking as you will have access to a FULL kitchen with all the necessary amenities!

Happy traveling!

PS: I'm writing this from our balcony as we are preparing to checkout (Yes, there is complementary WiFi throughout the resort and in your room) BUT, be warned, the mosquitos are eating me alive, bring or buy bug spray!!

Room Tip: If you are in the Tortola building, you will have the best view of the sunset but not be able to see...

Spent four nights with friends at the time-share villas/condos. Unit was a 2-bedroom with full kitchen, dining room table, master bedroom with king bed, balcony, and private bath. Second bedroom had two queen beds, balcony, and Jack-and-Jill bath.. Three TVs in the unit: all flat screen and all with DVD players. Very nicely decorated and our view from room 652 in the St. Thomas building was super. Nice BBQ area with gas grills and patio tables. No grill tools in the unit, which might explain why so few people were using the grills.

If you want to spend your time at the pool don't stay in one of the upper buildings as it's a 3-elevator ride to get there (or lots of stairs). Small on-site market has kitchen staples for sale at very marked up prices (ice cream for $12.99), small bottle of olive oil for $10.99) but you're held captive for shopping unless you have a car or take a taxi or water ferry to town. The taxis DO charge an extra $1/bag, so plan accordingly. Free parking at the Marriott. Not really safe to walk along the road to town because of steep drop-offs, narrow road, blind corners, no sidewalks, and inattentive drivers.

Activities desk will help you plan your stay. Kristi was a big help! I wanted to do the evening glass kayak with LED lights trip, but we ran our of time. Didn't swim in the beach area so can't tell you about the snorkeling there.

We really enjoyed our stay and certainly would return again.

Room Tip: If you want to use the pool, stay in a lower villa. If you want beautiful views of the channel and C...

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left everything was great. We were welcomed on arrival by TJ who could not have been nicer or more helpful. He asked if we were celebrating some special occasion and then sent a bottle of wine to our room. We had a nice condo on the 3rd floor of the St John Building. The view was good (a higher floor would have been even better) and we didn't mind the walk to the pool and beach (both of which were clean and well maintained). The resort felt quiet even though it was busy and the staff were all so friendly and nice. We rented a car and ate out every night. The restaurant at the resort is fine but better for lunch than dinner. For dinner we liked Havana Blue and Mims. The NorthSide Bistro is also a great place to eat if you go to the Magen's Bay area. Keep in mind that taxis charge by the person so a round trip to anywhere can get expensive. We have stayed at Marriott timeshares in Aruba and St Kitts. This place is much, much better!

Our family had a great time at New Years at this property. Beach was nice, busy but not crowded. Service at the beach/pool restaurant/bar was excellent; food was very good and good value. Our condo was 5th floor of Virgin Gorda building with nice view. Our condo was nicely furnished, everything worked, and comfortable. Only downside was they were doing construction on the sea wall between Frenchman's Reef (hotel) and Frenchman's Cove (condos) and that didn't improve the view. We walked over to the Marriott Hotel to try their restaurants which were good, and we got groceries at the market by the pool to make our own breakfast in our kitchen. We loved it, and we would go back in a heartbeat. Only complaint is that they should have had simple stuff like salt and pepper in the kitchen, so better to bring your own spices if you are going to cook.

Room Tip: higher floor has better view

Im a lifetime Platinum member with Marriott and I have to say that my opinion is probably somewhat jaded but Ive been at Marriott resorts all over the world and several in the Caribbean.
This was our belated honeymoon and we let the hotel know that. I was expecting some recognition but we received nothing. The $35 resort fee covers internet and two bottles of water daily, plus non motorized water sport rentals.

There were no newspapers delivered, no turndown service and very abrupt service by the pool bar for you $10 and up drinks. The lack of actual attention to guests is actually quite disturbing to anyone who travels frequently.

Other than the location, I would NEVER choose to stay here again. We actually complained to the Manager on Duty and he kept asking what we want or what he could comp us. It made my complaints about the service seem like it was just to get something for free. I was really insulted by the whole process.

If youre not going to be going to Charlotte Amalie every day, spend your money at the Ritz Carlton near Red Hook
