“A wonderful day in St. Thomas”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

We cruised to St. Thomas in late September 2012 and wanted to find a tour that would allow us to see the highlights of the island in the short amount of time we had in port. Godfrey's tour was exactly what we were looking for! He picked us up in a nice open air van about 5 minutes after our scheduled pick-up time. Even though he was only going to be a few minutes late he called the port employees who told us he was in a little bit of traffic and would be a few minutes late so no one had to worry. Excellent communication. After pick-up we went to a shopping area downtown for a few hours. We aren't too big into duty-free shopping so we walked up the steps Godfrey had pointed out and did a self guided tour of Blackbeard's Castle which had beautiful homes, gardens, and views. Next we got back in the van and headed to a nice outlook point that overlooked Charlotte Amalie Harbor--gorgeous views. Next it was up to the Mountain Top which is one of the highest points on the island. There a large store with tons of shopping and banana daquiries (and also a very long line) but the view over Magen's Bay and the surrounding islands from the balcony in the back is stunning. Godfrey pointed out all the islands and gave us a ton of facts and fun tid bits about places you could see from the lookout. On the way back down he stopped at various scenic spots for photos and more information about the island. He then dropped the group off at your choice of 2 beaches: Magen's Bay or Coki. We went to Magen's Bay which was wonderful. There was only 1 cruise ship in port so it wasn't crowded and there was plenty of beach and shade for everyone. Godfrey held all our valuables in his van while we were at the beach so we wouldn't have to worry about keeping an eye on our things. He picked us up right on time and got us to the ship on time as well. Godfrey was very nice and personable and helped make our day wonderful!

“Is it over yet?”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

Went on Godfrey's tour on September 5th. He was prompt to pick us up at the cruise pier and then dropped us off in town for shopping time. When it was time to start our island tour, Godfrey met us at the appointed place and we were loaded onto an open-air vehicle and waited, and waited, and waited. Apparently, Godfrey had sold more seats then his vehicle held and had a second vehicle/driver on hand to take the overflow. However, 8 people did not show up on time and we waited 20-30 minutes in the sweltering heat before Godfrey decided to load an extra 4 people into the already full first vehicle and leave the second driver to wait for the no-shows. The vehicle really could not accommodate the extra people and we were all mushed together and pretty hot and miserable. We proceeded with our tour, stopping at an overlook with a view of downtown Charlotte Amalie. While there, another tour group showed up and their guide proceeded to give a very animated commentary of what we were all looking at. Proceeded on to Mountain Top, a total tourist trap of tacky souvenirs that just happens to have a nice view. All of the tour guides seem to bring people here as there were a large number of nearly identical tour open-air vehicles here. Godfrey did provide some commentary here, but in walking around some I found that other tour guides were more entertaining and informative. Back in the vehicle and off to Coki beach. The beach was pretty, but by this point, we just wanted to get back to the ship. While driving, must of the commentary was related to hurricanes and the amount of damage they had done. The same information was repeated multiple times during the trip.

Godfrey seemed like a nice man, and it seemed that most of the tour operators gave pretty much the same tour, but I just don't think it was a worthwhile tour.

“Great Tour”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

Booked online before our cruise. Godfrey was very quick to respond to emails and answer our questions. We spent the first part of our tour at Blackbeard's castle instead of shopping downtown. We went to Mountain top, Drakes Seat, and Coki beach and saw and learned about many other places along the way. Godfrey met us at the pier and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He provided free bottled water and soft drinks for everyone on the tour.

“Godfrey Tour - excellent tour”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

I found Godfrey Tour from Trip Advisor, and it was an excellent tour.
First, Godfrey is ''on time'' person, he was never late, came on time, even before the meeting time and always waiting for us.
Secondly, the tour was well organized, professional, and Godfrey himself is very knowledgable man, he is so informative and told us everything about the island. You can see easily that he loves his job and his island.
Third, it is perfect to see island with open air bus. They served refreshment all the time.
Forth, price is perfect, and much cheaper than the cruise excursions.
We DEFINITELY recommend GODFREY TOUR FOR ST. THOMAS for everyone, I'm sure you won't regret.

“Great Time”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

We went on Godfreys tour when our shipped docked in St Martin. We were promptly met by Tony directly when we disembarked and put in a open-aired bus-like vehicle. We were whisked to the shopping district for a hour of shopping. We the reboarded the bus, and were given a grand tour of the island, including stopping at the highest point on the island for a banana daquiri (get the non-alcoholic one...cheaper and MUCH better tasting!!) Godfrey gave us the history of the island as well as a bunch of additional information.

After that, they dropped us at the beach where we snorkled and played for several hours. Note that you have the option of 2 beaches: Megans Bay and Coki Beach. Megans Bay is bigger, but there is no snorkling and a $4 per person entry fee. Coki is free and has GREAT snorkling 4 feet in from the shore! Rent your gear from the place that Godfrey will tell you about...$5 for snorkel/mask, $10 for fins, but no fins are necessary.

After the beach, Tony picked us up and brought us back to the ship. Along the way, we saw lots of flaura and fauna. We picked and ate some "genips" directly from a tree alongside the road and saw many huge iguanas.

The only disappointment was that he no longer goes to blackbeards castle as they now charge an entrance fee, but we had a good time anyway!
