“Fun and Informative”

My wife and I took the Hassel Island Kayak tour and we really enjoyed it. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the island wildlife, history and culture from the early colonial period up to present day. It was the highlight of our trip to St. Thomas and we would highly recommend it.

“Good exercise with fun and learning.”
Reviewed March 6, 2012

Took half day eco tour with Jason on 3-5-12. It was a bit windy but the kayaking was fun and not as strenous as I had expected. The hike to the ruins of Hassel Island was informative and again not overly strenuous. Be sure to have closed toed sandals or tennis shoes for the hike. After the hike we snorkled. Saw some great coral and good variety of fish as well as one sea turtle. Jason was great at identifying the fish for us. Then a short paddle to another beach and a visit to the Creque railway and ship repair. The trip was a great way to spend just a bit mnore than half a day.

“A great way to avoid the crowds!”
Reviewed March 3, 2012

My wife and I went on the 3 hour tour of Hassel Island and had a great time. our tour guide Jason was knowledgeable and fun to be around! Our vacation rental was on the east side of St Thomas away from the the crowds so when we arrived in Charlotte Amalie we were surprised how over crowded it was from cruise ships. However, this trip was a great way to escape those crowds and learn about the rich history of the area and specifically the hidden beauty of Hassel Island.

“Little known gem of an excursion in the heart of St Thomas”
Reviewed February 11, 2012

We were in port in St Thomas last week and had the pleasure of heading out on a kayak/hike/snorkel adventure to the Hassel ISland Natl Park. The tour guides took us on a RT kayak trip around the entire island with a couple of stops for rest/historical background and even some snorkeling. We had a group of 16 (the max) and toodled around in two person kayaks. The tour is not for the timid or less exercize inclined. The paddling can be rigourous at times and the water can be choppy but if you are up for a rugges trip-this is the place to go. We had an absolute blast! I am already planning a return trip for my other pals who couldn't make it.

“Great little kayak/snorkel/hiking/historical tour”
Reviewed January 22, 2012

We took the 3 hour kayak/hiking/snorkel tour of Hassel Island.
This tour was a great blend of a little kayaking in a protected harbor area, a little hiking and historical interpretation, and a little snorkeling.
Bring walking shoes AND water shoes. You'll want the walking shoes for the hike (there were lots of thorny acacia branches on the ground when we went there) and water shoes for getting in and out of the kayaks and for snorkeling (the "beaches" on Hassel Island aren't sand - they're small rocks that are very uncomfortable on bare feet). All snorkel and kayaking gear was provided. The snorkeling was not spectacular, but if you have seasickness problems the 30 minutes of snorkeling in a protected area can be much more satisfying than an hour of snorkeling and upchucking in a less protected area.
Eli led this trip and provided a lot of interesting commentary.
