With many of the resorts still closed for post hurricane renovations we booked into Mafolie for one night prior to getting on a ship. For 1 night it was only ok. What wasn’t ok was the high nightly cost for what you get. The furniture was ripped, the bed looked like it belonged in a college dorm, the mini fridge had a completely iced over freezer section, the towels were thin, there was no drinking glass in the bathroom, etc... The pool area was nice, but the pool bar wasn’t open and after shlepping our bags down many flights of steep stairs we sure could have used a drink. If you wanted a beer, water or soda you needed to hike up those flights to the main office to get one.
Dinner was good, but very, very expensive. Breakfast (which was included) was very good and Ella was a bright spot in a bland experience.
The view is nice.

We stayed here for 4 nights in late February. Overall it was okay.

Likes:
The view of Charlotte Amalie from rooms and restaurant. The food and service at the restaurant was amazing.
Pool area was nice.

Dislikes:
The rooms was way too outdated and way too expensive - not good value for money.
Cold water in pool and the pool bar was closed due to new owner.

Only stay here for the amazing view not for the rooms.

You stay here for the view. It’s magnificent. We found ourselves on St Thomas unexpectedly and most hotels were booked. The staff at Mafolie was very helpful. The restaurant and pool area overlook the harbor and bay and it’s the best part of the property. The hotel is spread out on the side of the hill, uneven steps and sidewalks, so not for people with balance issues!!! Some rooms have balconies. The rooms and furniture are tired, towels and toiletries are limited, hot water was an issue a few times. It’s above and below a very busy road so traffic noise is constant. It’s far enough out of town that you need to taxi in each time you go. But breakfast (included) with that view and enjoying the pool overlooking the water made up for it. If you stay there, take advantage of the happy hour and restaurant for dinner.

The Mafolie Hotel, St. Thomas, a 22 room boutique hotel is located on a mountain top 984 feet above the sea with a bird's eye view of the harbor. The charming property offers a pool with spectacular views and a wonderful restaurant featuring locally inspired food. A charming Mediterranean style small hotel with 88 rooms was built in the '40s and continues to be a favorite spot for brunch, intimate romantic dinners, and small celebrations and of unforgettable weddings.

This is a wonderful hotel with gorgeous views. Very close proximity to the airport and shopping areas - easy to access with a cab. The bar restaurant is delicious. Very friendly staff and great location.
