Emerald Beach Resort

Stayed here 2 days when Delta flights were cancelled (Delta airlines - 0 stars). They were welcoming and friendly. The food at the restaurant was as excellent as the service. I didn't use the pool, that looked inviting, because the beach looked so great- turquoise water, lounge chairs, thatched umbrellas for shade, palm trees waving.... When trying to work out flight and other issues. the office staff, especially Tiffany Saddler, was helpful and pleasant. Computer in reception lounge was very convenient. Those two days "stranded" in St. Thomas, USVI was the ICING ON THE CAKE to an already great vacation in the British Virgin Islands.
It was pricey but a great treat!!

Room Tip: I believe all rooms face the beach and have a balcony but if not, that's what I'd ask for.

The hotel was clean and the rooms very comfortable. All staff was great. Especially Laura in the botique.

The beach was great with beautiful rooms. Bartenders Ryan, Jeb, Morgan and Tony were wonderful and friendly.

I highly recommend this hotel for anyone just wanting to relax on the beach and snorkel. I saw tons of fish just snorkeling by the hotel...no need to go on the trips or adventures .

You you want to go see the blue green water on a budget this is the hotel to go to.

Room Tip: Food is pricey but not as bad as other resorts. I do not recommend the buffets...they were over pri...

All rooms are oceanfront. Right next to the airport. Plane noise didn't bother us, but it could because we are pilots. Planes start around 6AM and stop around 11PM. The rooster was more annoying than the plane noise. Rooms are adequate for a Best Western. Service is slow, but friendly. Housekeeping is not attentive to resupplying the amenities in the room (toilet paper, coffee, cups, etc.) but when asked, they immediately bring it up to your room. Front desk staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Internet is slow, but free. We didn't have problems getting beach towels or beach chairs, maybe that they changed the policy so that you get beach towels from the front desk in order to eliminate the cruise line people from taking all of the towels. It is a public beach, so you may have people from the cruise lines at the beach, but we did not have any problem finding chairs. Apparently, the most crowded cruise days seem to be Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We also had a lot of cruise people on the beach on Sunday. They came after lunch, were drinking and rowdy, and left around 3:30. At breakfast, do not bother with the buffet; you will do better to order off the menu. Remember you are on island time, so it may take a little while to get your food. On Friday evenings there is a Caribbean buffet for $30pp, but we found that it was better to order off of the bar menu. The bar menu is also available for lunch, if you want to eat while on the beach. The food is pretty good and reasonably priced. You can rent snorkel equipment for $15 for 24 hours. Snorkeling is not great off the beach, but if you go near the rocks you will see sponges, fish, coral, and squid. Rooms are large and adequate for the price. If you keep your expectations in line with the price of the room, you will enjoy your stay. If you want service like a Ritz, then stay at the Ritz and pay the thousand dollars per night. The hotel is .6 miles from the airport so that if you get in early, you can easily walk to the hotel. Do not recommend taking a taxi from the airport since these are usually a rip off. The taxi drivers will wait until every seat in the taxi is taken, so you may be waiting up to 45 minutes for them to leave. Our taxi driver charged us $10 per person for the taxi ride to the hotel even though it should've been a maximum of $8 per person. If you are traveling during high season or in the winter, and you need or want a rental car, make sure that you rent one when you initially make your airplane reservation. Rental cars sell out and you may not be able to get one once you arrive on the island. You may be able to rent a car from one of the off airport rental centers, but it will be expensive. The best way to get around the island is to take the Dollar Safari taxi. They run about every 10 minutes and are easy to pick up. Costs $1-$2 per person depending on where on the island you were going. For instance, from the airport to town was $1 per person. From the airport to Red Hook is $2 per person. It is far cheaper than taking a regular taxi. There is a small market near the hotel at the end of the airport road. It looks like a dive, however it has a good selection of groceries, and the prices were better than the Pueblo markets, which are larger supermarkets.

Room Tip: All rooms are oceanfront, however, for the best view of the ocean, get a third floor room. Note tha...

We stayed one night prior and three nights after our cruise. New restaurant is great! Food was prepared to our liking! Comfortable seating inside or out with the breeze as a bonus. The beach is easy to walk and the beach bar is a fun place to gather and meet new people! The bar tenders were all very nice and all seemed to enjoy their jobs!!! The front desk girls were very nice as well!

Room Tip: Building one or two first floor... Or building three or four on the third floor for a wonderful vie...

Just left here. Went with my boyfriend. Definately mediocre in terms of customer service.
-They don’t allow more than one beach towel. Seriously?
-Water pressure in rooms was terrible....a trickle
-Friday night buffet was a complete rip-off horrible food, wouldnt serve it to a dog. Paid $70!!! for two peoplel! Hotel staff ate the buffet too, holding up the buffet line while on their cell phones. Ridiculous!
-Noticing now, I have bites on my legs that look like bed bug bites.
-If noise bothers you, this hotel is literally under the airport runway.

-If the beach wasn’t so darn perfect, I would have left this place.

We want you to know that we place extreme importance on all of our reviews, especially when a serious accusation as yours is received. We are a professional Resort and we take important precautions in all of our rooms to ensure the cleanliness of every room for all of our guest’s enjoyment.

First we use a mattress protector which prevents and protects against bed bugs. Secondly we inspect and use ultraviolet light treatment in all of our rooms on a regular basis. We also enlisted the services of Ecolab, a professional service company, to thoroughly and completely inspect the room and they found absolutely no trace or evidence of bed bugs. We can provide you with a complete inspection report from Ecolab proving that we were wrongly accused!

In our tropical climate you may have run across a biting insect outside, but your statement is completely unfounded and untrue and we have certified proof that there were no bed bugs found in your room!

This is a very serious accusation and we want to state that we use every precaution and there was absolutely no trace or evidence of bed bugs and we can provide certified proof to any concerned guests!

I am available and willing to discuss your recent stay at any time. Our Guests are extremely important to us and we strive to offer wonderful service at a Great Value to each and every one of our Guests!

Sincerely,

Linda Mason

I flew there on business with one of my staff & our wives. Hotel staff was very accommodating. Even when our first room had water problems. Staff immediately moved us & our luggage. Each nite finishing business at the tiki bar with Tony & Zack was a great way to end the day. The view is out of this world, even if I am from Sarasota. The night before we left I was at the tiki bar and departed to my room. Approx 3 hours later the front desk called and advised that Tony had found my wallet asi guess it had worked its way out of my pocket. I immediately went & picked it up and found everything in tact. The hotel should be proud to have an employee with kind of integrity. I looked Tony up the next morning as he was coming in off his boat & rewarded him with a nice bonus.

We stayed here for only one night before our sailing trip and were very impressed with the hotel staff. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Nice beach and bar, relaxing atmosphere and very close to the airport and fast ferry to Tortula. I would definitely recommend to anyone needing a short stay in St. Thomas!
