Owner description: Step streets used by the residents of Charlotte Amalie, these historical 99 steps (the actual count is 103) were built from the ballast bricks of the tall ships coming from the old world, which would then return to Europe loaded with products from the islands.

Beautiful views from this famous St. Thomas landmark. The are is a bit sketchy, lots of old abandoned buildings but worth a visit.

“THE excursion from cruise ship not worth price.”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

Not much to see; shops, nice pool, restaurant/bars and actually not bad walk of the 99 steps since lots of places to stop on the way down. The tour was suppose to be 3 1/2 hrs but was only 1 or so in bus and then this stop. Definitely not worth the price. Then had to take taxi, extra cost, back to ship or walk 2 miles!!

“Hey, it's about 100 steps...What else is there to say?”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

What more is there to say. If you're walking to Blackbeard's Castle, it's another way to get there. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here just to see the steps.

“Actually 103 steps”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

Located at Bluebeards Castle, beautiful views of the city and the harbours. There are areas to stop and catch your breath, a must do.

“Fantastic view from the top of the steps!”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

Easy to find behind the Main Street post office. I have bad knees and was able to do this climb, with some stopping!
