Owner description: Step streets used by the residents of Charlotte Amalie, these historical 99 steps (the actual count is 103) were built from the ballast bricks of the tall ships coming from the old world, which would then return to Europe loaded with products from the islands.

I wouldnt want to have to much to drink and have to walk them, but it was amazing just to know how old they were.

It's a lot of steps to climb when it's hot and steamy, I was a sweaty mess by the time I got to the top but it's worth it. That's what showers are for.

It was intriging to hear the history about the 99 steps. Our guide shared with us there are actually 103 steps but the last 4 are not counted. Sure enough, he was right! And what a work out those steps proved to be!

A very interesting walk down the hill. It is the most direct route and plenty of things to do along the way. Check out the walking tour.

Very cool looking. Made some awesome photographs! Not much else to them... Much easier going down than up! :)
