The place is gorgeous however, every night they were charging me for things I never did!!! Since we were there for a wedding I asked the rest of the group, & the same thing happened to them!!! I've been fighting with these people since I got home!!! They can't explain where these charges are coming from but insist I owe them! They are wrong!! Also the staff is very rude! Never again

Although Tripadvisor isn’t our usual customer service portal, we recognize that you are having a frustrating experience trying to understand your bill. If you would be so kind to send an email to sttfrexperienceteam@marriotthotels.com and reference this review, we can then have a member of our resort leadership team work with you directly. On a positive note, we appreciate your compliment regarding the beauty of Frenchman’s Reef. We also sincerely hope you and the wedding party enjoyed your stay! Thank you for your review.

Our stay was at the Morningside Beach Resort part of the property. We were in building #3 of 5 on the beach and on the top floor with a view of the Caribbean. The Morningside Beach resort can best be recommended for those who prefer to spend their day on the beach rather than at the pool. It does have a nice pool, but being able to walk out of your room onto this beautiful beach is superb. This is a laid back beach resort. If you want the infinity pool scene, more people around, stay up the hill at the Frenchman's Reef. Our room (5334) was on the top floor (3rd) of this building. Only building 3 and 4 have three floors. The other buildings only have two. Our room was nicely appointed, had all of the necessary amenities, but also included an ice maker! I mean the 25lbs a day kind of ice maker. So, stop at the local grocery store on the way from the airport, buy your rum and soda, and you're set. Also recommend a large insulated mug to keep your beverage cold while you are snorkeling. Staff was helpful and prompt. We had a problem with the in room safe, and security had it repaired within 15 minutes of our call. Marigold was wonderful at the front desk and took great care of us. We would certainly stay here again!

Thank you for taking a moment to post a review and the photo from your Morning Star room. The tranquility seen in your photo also shows through your excellent and helpful descriptions of the 2 different options (Frenchman’s Reef and Morning Star) we offer. We will let Marigold hear your compliment and also give praise to our security staff for promptness. Thank you again and we look forward to your return!

We stayed at the Frenchman’s Reef 9/30-10/6. The hotel and the grounds a very nice along with the staff members who were always helpful. The rooms were nice enough – nothing to write home about. We actually were able to switch to a higher floor at my request due to the iguanas that liked our patio on the 1st floor. Try and stay on a high floor unless you like the lizards in the bushes and on your patio all the time! The pools were also very nice. When we arrived the first 3 days the pools were very quiet and enjoyable. Our last 3 days it seemed the resort started to fill up with people which is to be expected however, they played some very loud music at the infinity pool. The infinity pool was for the younger crowd (which I would normally fit into – we are 26 and 28 however I am 7 months pregnant). The music could be easily heard at the other pool and some of the lyrics were profane – I would be upset if I had children running around.

I will say that I was quite disappointed with the food options. I am SO happy we decided to not go all inclusive or I would have probably raised a little concern with management. The main restaurant was closed because of the season apparently. On one occasional they closed Sunset Grill which is the other Frenchman’s restaurant because of the wedding reception. The only option left was CoCo Joes at the beach which probably had the best selection anyways. For a small price increase head down the beach to Havana Blue. I have nothing but fabulous things to say about them! We ended up eating there on multiple occasions given the lack options and the fact that the food wasn’t great at the Marriott.

We both visited the spa. Felt rushed in and out and neither of us were impressed with our massages but oh well.

Overall, we probably would choose to go somewhere else for the simple fact that the food wasn’t great. I am a total ‘foodie’ and expect good things on vacation and that didn’t happen at the Marriot.

We stayed at the Frenchman's Reef Morning Star Beach Resort from 10/1/2012 through 10/06/2012. The overall experience was very positive. Room was oceanfront and inside of room was nice and clean. Outside of buildings appear a little date and need some refreshing. Grounds were clean and staff were all friendly and professional. Being the off season, made it even better, beach nor pools were crowded. A good stay and I would go back again.

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the ocean.

What a place! Simply stunning, had an amazing time. If I could I would go back every year. We had the best view from our room of the pool and the bay, which was pristine. Service was fantastic and the staff couldn't go out of their way enough for us.

Room Tip: All the rooms have an amazing view.

We stayed at the Frenchman's Reef from 9/17/12-9/22/12. The resort was nice and the rooms were satisfactory. It wasn't the cleanest room I have ever seen, but it certainly wasn't the worst. The beach was beautiful with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The pools were never over-crowded either. We were disappointed with the food options. We did the all inclusive and found that the restaurants were extremely limited, especially with it being the off season. We could have the buffet breakfast at Aqua Terra. The lunch and dinner options were Coco Joe's and Sunset Grill. The food was good, but service was on island time, which we didn't mind too much, because so were we. The problem is that those were the only 2 places for lunch and dinner for 5 days so it got old. The staff recommended Aqua Terra for dinner, however it was closed for some reason. Even the signs in the hotel advertised that restaurant and when we asked the front desk about it, they said that we couldn't expect them to update their signs. At least their staff should know what restaurants are open and which aren't. During 2 of the 3 nights we had drinks at the bar across from the Sunset Grill, there were rats running along the exposed pipes above the bar. The manager bought us a round of drinks one night because of it, but it didn't matter since we were all inclusive anyway. It was a nice gesture though. We never saw any rats near the guest rooms. There were feral cats though that left feces in the hallways. Check out process took forever because there was only one person behind the front desk. I had received a bill for over $1700 under my door on our last day. We had prepaid and expected our bill to be zero. It took awhile for them to figure it out. If you do the all inclusive, make sure to understand what is included and what isn't. Definitely take the island tour of St. John. The snorkeling was amazing and St. John is absolutely beautiful. Clyde the Guide is awesome!

Thank you for the positive review and suggestions for improvement. We’re sorry that Aqua Terra was temporarily closed during your stay. Also, I appreciate you bringing the failure of communication from our staff regarding this to my attention. All our employees need to be updated and I am taking care of this! In addition, I am working with our maintenance and housekeeping teams regarding your other comments. We are also currently working with the local humane society to control the cat population. Beyond the few issues you mention, it sounds like you had a most enjoyable stay and I sincerely hope that we have earned another opportunity to delight you on your next trip to St. Thomas.
