“Great Views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

This is a quiet stop with a little history. The stop has beautiful views and a bar in which you can have a nice tropical drink while looking around. The workers were very friendly and helpful. They give us tips on what we should see and where we should eat while on the island.

“Fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013

Such a fun place! A great place for really cute pictures. Worth the trek up the 99 steps. But be warned that if you go all the way to the top you will be walking up way more than 99 steps!

“Fun for adults and kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

Well maintained attraction and easy to tour around on your own. Lots of photo opportunities within the attraction itself as well as the surrounding area, including the lookout point where you can see your cruise ship, the shoreline, etc. You will wanna take panorama pictures, just beautiful. Lots of pirate sculptures to take pictures with, and there's a well dressed pirate with knives and guns to pose for pictures with you, kids love that although feeling a bit uneasy with him because of such excellent makeup and costume that made him look real.

Book it online yourself instead of through the cruise, it's cheaper that way. Besides, Charlotte Amalie is easy to stroll around. Get a cab to drop you off at the top where the entrance is, then walk your way down, it's fun all the way, you will pass by the rum shop where you can taste them and buy some local rums (not for export) in all sorts of flavor.

“Great fun, if you love pirates!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

The "castle" is more of a watchtower, but the little village, museum, history and RUM were certainly worth it! It was very interesting to learn how they make rum. It was very interesting to take a look into a true pirate's life!

“CLOSED”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

This lovely hillside tour of old Danish houses, Amber Museum, Castle, etc is now closed. A former tour guide said they are supposed to reopen on November 15th. However, people around town reported that it is closed permanently and the museum was dismantled as well as Hotel 1829. Such a shame, this was a fantastic property with a very knowledgable & friendly staff.
