“Decent food - great service”

I had the paella valenciana - it was pretty good but not worth the $30 price tag. The sangria was delicious. But the star of the evening was the duck with prunes and blueberries. Absolutely fabulous!!! Dessert fell flat with the bread pudding. I wouldnt go out of my way to come back here again but it's not a bad choice if in the area.

“Worth every penny!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2011

The freshness, quality and presentation of our meal was outstanding. Given the prices are on the higher side, I was surprised that we had to pay for bread but, in the big picture, this meal was an excellent value. Dining here again would be one of the primary reasons we may return to St. Thomas.

“Beautiful place and excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2011

The place is beautiful, located in a courtyard with palm trees and soft lighting. The food was wonderful Tapas style. The price was a little high, but Tapas often gets pricey if you eat a whole meal. The owner came to cisit with us and the service was friendly and effecient.

“Absolutely fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2011

My husband and I ate here on first night of our honeymoon--it was recommended to us by our host at the B&B we stayed at. My husband ordered the scallops as an appetizer, which were perfectly cooked. The sauce was a little salty, but the chef had tossed in a handful of raisins, which added an unexpected sweetness and helped balance the dish.

For entrees, he ordered red snapper, I ordered the paella, which was the perfect blend of spice, savory, and seafood. Both portions were quite large

Food aside, Randolph's hospitality definitely exceeded expectations--we spent almost two hours talking about one thing or another with him (we were the only table there, since it was later in the evening in the off season)

We actually wound up going back for lunch a couple days later and again, it was fantastic. We ordered the pasta special (and split it, again, the portions are quite large)--best.pasta.ever. There was butterflied shrimp stuffed with herbed goat cheese, a spectacular tomato sauce, and the whole dish was covered with baked mozzarella. There was enough for the two of us to share, and we had leftovers (and the dish was just as good the next day!)

“Great food, great atmosphere, great owner!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2011

We visited the restaurant base on Trip Advisor ratings and weren't disappointed. The food was delicious, the service great and the owner entertaining. I do not like sangria, but again tried it based on recommendations. I am now a sangia fan if it tastes like this! There was so much fruit in the glass it came with a spoon! We finished our meal with a piece of key lime pie. In my partner's words - it was the best she had ever had. Tart and flavorful. I don't think you can go wrong here. We walked by the first time as the sign said Meson Amalia instead of Cafe Amalie - if you see the sign you are at the right place!
