“Outstanding Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

St. Thomas, like the rest of the Virgin islands, has an unfortunate taxi system. Drivers charge $90 for the ride to and from the airport, which can be shared among several passengers. If you don't have anyone to share with however, you are stuck with that full cost. Marilyn went out of her way to help us avoid paying that much for a taxi by driving us into town personally when we wanted to go out to get some dinner. She then drove me to the airport the next morning as well which is not a short drive. I have never stayed anywhere that had as dedicated a staff as Paradise Cove. Our room had direct access to the pool area which was pretty cool as well!

After a week of sailing, my boyfriend and I booked a room here for one night because I had an early flight out of St. Thomas. Originally, I was drawn to the price despite having read mixed reviews about a woman named Danielle. To confirm, Danielle is no longer with the company and it is now run by a woman named Marylin who is relaxed, sweet, and more than accommodating. After showing us to our room, Marylin offered to drive us to dinner in town and arranged for a cheap cab service to take me to the airport at 6:20 AM (cab services are often expensive in the virgin islands). She called us to confirm we had a cab service then double checked in the morning that he had arrived on time. In addition, she drove my boyfriend to the airport at a later time (which is quite far) at no charge.

The rooms are not luxurious but cute and unique. Ours had a door directly to the pool and the views are breathtaking. I almost purposefully missed my flight. We both agreed that there was a local feeling to the experience and we enjoyed contributing directly to the economy vs. staying at a Marriot or other corporate hotel.

I would highly suggest this spot for a relaxing weekend stay or, as we did, the perfect ending to a vacation at sea.

First impressions may not always seem to be what they really are and this is the case with Paradise Cove. If you are searching for a quiet, comfortable and well run "get away" retreat then this place is for you. We arrived very late at night from the airport and were greeted by the smiling and welcoming Marilyn who made us feel special from the onset. The views are fantastic and the villa was clean, well equipped kitchen and functioning with internet. Although the place is undergoing renovations at the time of our stay, we were not put out by the workers or staff. A wonderful experience all around and we will definitely look to stay here again!

We stayed in the Serenity Cottage. The room was great- nice and clean and very large. And the king bed was very comfortable. But even better, the view was spectacular!! It had a very large back porch with table and chairs to sit out and enjoy the view and natural landscape. Another couple traveling with us came to 'our place' every night because of the large and beautiful space inside and out. There are alot of slopes and steps on a narrow walkway to get to this particular cottage, so if accessibility is an issue, I suggest travelers to ask for a cottage or suite closer to the parking area. We enjoyed the manager Marilyn- she was really sweet and super fun and accommodating. This place is really close to Red Hook, which we all agreed was the perfect part of St Thomas to stay in to avoid the cruise ship crowd. We would definitely stay here again on a future trip thru St. Thomas.

The view cannot be beat; and it is so quiet. The Escape condo we rented was very well designed and decorated with a very comfortable Serta bed. We very much liked how there were not maids constantly around and knocking on your door like other hotels. The owners were very friendly and the "new" manager Marilyn was so sweet. We went snorkeling on four different beaches including St. John and the best was at Secret Harbor which we could see from our room. Red Hook is in our opinion (we drove all over) the best area in St Thomas and it's just a few minutes away; and the best food deal has got to be the Texas Barbeque there. We did a day sail to St John which was not worth the money. Take the ferry instead. We both agreed that our best experiences on St Thomas was the snorkeling and our room. 5/2/13

We stayed in an Escape room which was we believe the best choice. The view was unbelievable. The room was "almost" very clean...we clean for a living and found many things missed by housekeeping, which by the way you don't have during your stay...we stayed 9 days, and never had any cleaning or change of bedding...which we found ridiculous. For the money spent per night, one would think you'd at least get one change of bedding in a long stay. Being on a budget, we only ate out a couple of times, and cooked and grilled the rest. The cooktop is very up to date, but was VERY limited in cookware and utensils.

Enough of the negativity...we loved it there- the view is staggering, the climb down the path to the ocean was fun and there's actually a wrecked sailboat down there. We snorkeled from the beach "down the road" and swam with turtles daily along with the best assortment of fish we've ever encountered.

By the way, other reviewers complain about Danielle. We don't know why- she isn't going to be available 24 hours every day, but we found her very friendly and extremely helpful (she managed to give us a ride as we stupidly didn't rent a car or she arranged a ride or a cab).
Another aside- she said we might enjoy the Bad Kitty snorkel trip. Enjoy turned out to be an understatement as we ended up seeing a pair of humpback whales with their calf along with a generally great day of snorkeling. The crew was sensational.
