Reviewed June 2, 2014

Stayed for the week of Thanksgiving, Very Nice Relaxing Resort. Rooms were Good size, Very Clean and had ample dishes, pots, pans, etc. Nice to cook right in our room, Restaurant was being renovated. Pool and Swim Up Bar were very nice and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this resort to others.

Bluebeard's Beach Club is a beautiful resort with a nice beach, swim-up pool, and nicely kept grounds. The views from the top of the resort are spectacular! The staff in the lobby, pool, and store were very friendly and Alex, the manager makes it a point to walk around the property during the week and ask how people are doing. There are less than 100 units there so it has a nice intimacy! There is no restaurant on site which we would love to have as it can be expensive to use taxis to go for dinner. They are however working on one and hope to open it soon! The pool bar serves Panini sandwiches and hot dogs all day and there is an Italian buffet on Monday evenings that is well worth $25. There is also an all day BBQ on Fridays that offers hot dogs, hamburgers, fish and chicken. Beau manages the pool bar, BBQ and buffet and is very accommodating if you need something special. He also manages the store which is open every day at 7 and they have bagels, muffins, cereals and breakfast sandwiches so there are select offerings for both breakfast and lunch. This year's visit to BBBC was enjoyable and we look forward to our return next year!

Room Tip: Any of the 84 rooms in the 7 buildings would be fine but Buildings A & B have better views of th...

My wife & recently spent a week at Bluebeard's Beach Resort, and had a blast. Beau, Zack & Chris are great around the Bar, Annie & Nikki were helpful at the Dive Shop, but their day cruise is AWESOME.

The resort rooms are just about the right size and beds & bathrooms are quite comfortable and fit for the purpose. Ice Machine was convenient, and the on site convenience grocery was stocked with what you needed for starters or to supplement what few items you needed to fill in the gaps.

Internet access would have been nice, paying per device not quite a bargain. But I didn't vacation there to stay on the cell phone. It just gave us more time to relax and party.

The location was great, especially after you knew where you were going. St Thomas is not one of the better marked places for street names. But that's across the island.

We will go back to St Thomas and plan on going back to Bluebeard's Beach!

The location of this resort is great! It's located between town & Red Hook. The landscaping is beautiful and the beach is AMAZING!! Very quiet beach with chairs and hammocks to relax & enjoy the amazing view. Our room was basic, but nice. There was a king size bed in the bedroom and the couch pulled out into another bed in the living room. There is a TV in both the living room and the bedroom. Internet was extremely unreliable. Purchase at your own risk. (AT&T gets great service across the island. Verizon was roaming) Pillows were the most uncomfortable pillows I've ever slept on...EVER! The bathroom off of the bedroom is HUGE! There is an ironing board, iron and a hairdryer. I was impressed with the hairdryer. It actually had some power compared to most hotel hair dryers. The kitchen & dining area is small, but had everything we needed. We only prepared breakfast in the room. Every room was clean.

I used the gym twice. The equipment was not in the best shape and 2 machines were out of order completely, but it was good enough for a quick workout. The view from the gym is gorgeous!!

The pool and pool bar are a lot of fun! Chris the bartender was great!!! Very personable and entertaining. Sandwiches they serve during the day are mediocre, but for a day spent in the pool they were fine. On Friday, they do a cookout and the food is better.

We didn't have a lot of interaction with the staff, but with the exception of the pool bar employees and the manager (that helped me get the internet in the office working in order to print our boarding passes) the rest of the office staff was not friendly at all. Front desk employees were practically monotone and didn't seem to be able to make any decisions on their own. Victoria, the activities director is HORRIBLE!!! TWO different times when we were in the pool, she was "patrolling" the area and approached us (with an extremely off putting attitude) to ask if we were guests at the resort. When we told her we were, she said that she was asking because we weren't using the resorts towel and walked away. She was SO rude and to do it twice, I find unacceptable.

They have some work to do, but all are areas that are easily rectified. I would definitely return! It was a great week! I would just make sure to avoid Victoria at all costs!!!

Tricia,
Thank you for the feedback. I am so disappointed to hear your interaction with the resort staff did not meet your expectations, as this is not part of the Count On Me service we take pride in at Wyndham. It is imperative that our guests are treated well. Please rest assured that I will be taking action to ensure that this is not an issue for future guests. Again, thanks for taking the time to reach out.

the resort is a bit older but very clean and well kept. the pool side bar was so fun to hang out at. good food there and fun staff! the main restaurant is still not open. i had called a few months before and i was told it would be open by the time we were there but it was not even close to being finished. i was surprised that being that the resort is a wyndham that they would let the restaurant remain closed for so long. it was wonderful having the beach right out our door with beautiful crystal clear warm water. and when there dont forget to use the driver "mr nice guy" he is right on time every time and had great suggestions for restaurants and local sights. very relaxing vacation!

Room Tip: all the rooms face the beach and have beautiful views!

The Good: The outdoor landscaping and property was very well maintained and the staff doing the work always had a smile and a wave. The beach was lovely although some of the chairs had seen better days. I think they are replacing them as they finally die a valiant death.

There was also one young lady in the front office named Benji who was very personable and helpful...if only she had been there every day......

We stayed in a studio plus which had a loft area for the bed. Kitchen is very tiny but quite adequate for our needs as we only ate breakfast in. Large shower area and decent size bathroom. Unit was pretty clean although there was a bunch of someone else's hair in our shower soap dish and the shower curtains smelled terribly of mildew making the whole bathroom smell awful. Note to management: I believe this can be rectified simply by laundering the shower curtains on a regular basis and using clean towels to wipe down bathroom.

Beau, the owner of the pool bar and little store on the property (Limetree), could not have been more personable. Had some great conversations, didn't kill you with drink prices and made a pretty good hot dog for lunch. The store, had a pretty good selection of breakfast items, drinks and essentials which was convenient if you forgot something.

The main living area was very comfortable and clean. Two ample closets with iron and ironing board, a table with four chairs for eating, a large couch, chair, end tables and coffee table with flat screen TV and a beautiful balcony with table, two chairs and umbrella.

The loft area had a very comfortable king size bed and pillows, two more closets, 2 nightstands, a dresser and another TV. Note to management: check linens for stains, some are a little off putting (looked like old dried blood). The air conditioning unit was in the loft area but it was enough with the ceiling fan to keep the whole unit fairly cool.

The Bad. The young woman who checked us in couldn't have cared less about doing her job. She actually told us to park in the main parking area which we did as this was our first time at resort. After dragging luggage from parking lot up all of the stairs to the third level, a maintenance man drove by and asked why we didn't park right in front of unit...okay. Thank goodness my husband only has an 80% tear in his rotator cuff or this could have been tough. Strike One for front office.

We were told that if we wanted internet, it would be $35 for week, even for Wyndham owners -- on principle just wouldn't give them the $35. They said they had free internet service inside the main office but every time we went in to check on a restaurant, the internet was down. Almost strike two for the front office but realize these things happen so they get a pass.

You are given four bath towels for the week and are advised that you could wash them yourselves ($2.50 per wash, $2.50 for dryer plus detergent). I realize that water is at a premium on the islands and shouldn't be wasted. However, by not having the washer/dryer in units, people would not generally be using a laundry room as it is a little inconvenient. Charging for use of the washer/dryer is a little nickle and diming guests. Just ask housekeeping for fresh towels and they will change them out for you.

We asked the front desk for recommendations on restaurants as we would be celebrating our anniversary that week and asked if they could make a reservation for us for a particular time and night. After much hemming and hawing they told us to come back the day before our anniversary and they would call. Couldn't guarantee if they wrote it down they would remember...seriously?? Strike Two for the front office.

The first night there, our air conditioning unit started making horrendous noise like something was rattling inside of it -- indeed there was, as two ice cubes fell out of the unit which we had set at 75. I guess it would be convenient for some folks to have a combo a/c and ice unit but not for us. It stopped after the first night so we didn't bother telling the very "helpful" front desk about it. Note to management: the a/c units do have a little problem with condensation so water drips on the dresser and sometimes the rug which is going to lead to a mildew problem upstairs. Would hate to see that happen as all of the units have been refurbished.

After the first shower, the water seemed to be getting hotter and hotter to the point of scalding, even when the water dripped out. We told the front desk and they said they would get someone on it. Went out to dinner and unfortunately forgot to check the water temperature. The next day on our way out, we checked the water temperature and guess what -- scalding. So no one came to fix the problem. So, we went back to the office a second time and were again told they would send someone to check it. Strike Three for front office.

When we got back to the unit, the bathroom was pulled apart. No note, no message on phone, nothing. We called the front desk and were told that we would have to move units. That's right, we would have to move all of our belongings to another unit with no offer of help from the front desk. When we asked for someone to bring a key over for the new unit they said it would take about an hour. After my husband explaining that this was our 38th wedding anniversary, they finally sent someone over with the key.

The new unit was pretty much the same except no ice cubes from the a/c unit (dang) and unfortunately it did have a mildewy shower curtain. Thank goodness the shower temperature could be regulated as we were pretty overheated after dragging all of our belongings over to a new unit. Again, thank goodness that rotator cuff tear held up.

The Possibility of Being Great: Overall this place could be a little slice of heaven with a little tweaking. Not too many units, great location between town and Red Hook, beautiful beach and palm trees, lovely pool area, great views from balconies. A more responsive front office (or have Benji train all of the front office staff on how to be pleasant) and a little extra attention to the cleaning of the bathrooms and linens would make it ideal. And hopefully the full restaurant will open in the not too distant future.

Loved the view & staff. Activity director full of herself but just overlook her big city NY attitude. Bar and gift shop so cute. Internet was down most of time. Don't pay for multi days because it doesn't work most of time. Verizon wireless not the best service to have coming to this island. Am eagle lost our luggage for 3 days. The shop owners were life savers. We got by without rental car because we made friends with vacationers wanting dinner friends. Really had a great time. Highly recommend to those needing a relaxing breakaway.

Room Tip: All have a view. Ask about steps in rooms.
