What can I say about the pool bar..Chris the bartender was fabulous and made everyone feel welcomed..the beach was wonderful and I snorkled there for the first time..I will definitely be making more trips....even talking with some of the locals was very helpful...

The resort itself is okay (great view from our room). It is an older resort that has been updated recently--not as upscale as say, Marriott, but not bad. There are no restaurants on the facility, though they do serve a poolside breakfast. So why the tepid review? Because from the moment we checked in it felt like it was all about getting more money from us during our stay.

It begins with a $22 per day energy surcharge--$154 for the week. They claimed they disclosed it to us (must have been buried in the fine print) and that all the hotels on the island do it. So why not just include it in the quoted room rate?

It is also extra to have your room cleaned, for Wi-fi and for local calls (this last item, by their own admission, is disclosed nowhere).

But most aggravating is their "Activity Manager"--Victoria. She welcomes you with a session in which local service providers pitch their tours, cruises, etc. She will sign you up with a 20% "deposit". It is not a deposit--it is her (or the resort's) fee--and it is often added to the price of the activity. So what she does not tell you is that you can contact these providers directly and save money. They all advertise with brochures and in free magazines that are available everywhere. Even if you don't save money you will know that what you pay all goes to the person or business who actually provides the service. By the way, when someone cancels or no-shows, Victoria keeps the deposit and the business that got burned gets nothing (it happened to one of our tour-guides).

Worst of all is that if you are interested in any activity or service provider that does not give her a cut (which is the vast majority of them)--you are simply on your own. For example, we asked about a zipline attraction that is very popular on the island. She said we would have to look into it on our own--that she did not book for them. So no information, recommendations or even directions.

Most activity directors at resorts serve in the role of a concierge--there to advise and assist you to find those activities that will make your stay more enjoyable. But at Blue Beard's, sadly, her only function appears to be enhancing resort revenue.

No one who vacations in the Virgin Islands expects it to be cheap. But we prefer to know the full cost upfront so that once we have settled on an itinerary we can relax and enjoy ourselves. But at Bluebeard's Beach Club, we felt like we had to keep a running total going the whole time just to keep track of what it was really going to cost.

We have stayed here three times in the past 9 years. What a difference renovation makes. I haven't been this relaxed during a vacation in years. We don't go to any other beaches on the island because this beach is one of the most secluded and pristine. The staff was delightful and helpful.

My husband and I just got back from our one week at BBBC - we own a week here. This place is wonderful - all units have just been renovated and they are modern and very beautiful. The studio now has a full refrig - which before was a small college size one. Everything clean and in working order - the new security doors on the units are great. All rooms have an ocean front view and beach is right there! All staff were friendly and very accommodating. Bo and his pool bar are great - drinks, breakfasts and lunches are great. Enjoyed the cook out and Italian buffet as well. Can't beat their prices. The beach is uncrowded - at the most maybe 20 people at one time - unreal. The water was crystal clear and very warm. We love it here and can't wait to get back next year. Very quiet resort if you like to "veg" out for a week -

This place is great -- not a highrise, kind of out of the way so it does not feel touristy or commercialized. The beach is not the greatest, but the snorkeling is wonderful. Sometimes you can see colorful fish in the water without even snorkeling.
The rooms we have stayed in were small but did have a stovetop, refrigerator and microwave. There used to be a WONDERFUL restaurant on site but the last time we went (March 2012) it was closed. But there are excellent restaurants within easy driving distance (one almost walking distance.) We are about to take our third trip to Bluebeard's.
Also, we are timeshare owners with Wyndham and really appreciate that we do not get bugged to come to any sales presentation when staying here.

Room Tip: Try to get a 1-bedroom; I think they have full as opposed to partial kitchens.

This place was just wonderful ! No time watch, as to what to do or when to do it. The staff is super helpful and friendly! The beach is a little rocky but in a perfect location for snorkeling. Its like a small cove. Many whimsical iguana that loved to chase me around !!! I hear it was because I wore red toenail polish and they love red !!! Ha ! ..who knew?!?!?! Anyways, this place was nothing over the top fancy but I must say that if your looking to have a wonderful time as a couple or even as a family group, this place serves both. Very laid back island living style vacation. Little shop in the gift store w/ food item were a bit high but doable. This place a bit away from town. Take a cab, My advice is to take one afternoon to do some food shopping in town and get that part out of the way so you can enjoy the rest of your trip. FYI: Food is pricey throughout the island. Whatever you do, don't forget to visit Magens Bay !!! great place to snorkel !!!

Room Tip: wear water shoes at the beach, corner units are great ask for newer room bldgs. ..

Never been to St. Thomas and thought we'd give it a try. As a Wyndham owner, selected Bluebeard beach resort over the other Wyndham property since it had a kitchen.
We've been to Puerto Rico several times and thought that because of its smaller size, St. Thomas would be less commercial and more care free, Not so,
Transportation is a nightmare, unless you rent a car, you are forced to use taxis, (vans), which charge per person.
The hotel is the most minimal of all Wyndham resorts I've been to. The best thing at this resort was the proximity of our villa to the beach; we were steps from a hammock under the trees a cabana, and the clear blue waters of the Caribbean.Unfortunately, the resort is evidently cutting cost which is evident everywhere. Certain items are in disrepair, fans (with spider webs), plasma tv in our room was barely visible, beach with branches, leaves, and personal items left behind.
Aside from that, this was the first resort with no dinning facility. Meals are prepared from a pool bar hot plate! Another problem was there were virtually no activities at the resort. Yes there was a gym, ping pong, a pool table, and DVD s for checkout, but there was no meet and greet or other "member" activities.
We were lucky, for the most part, we had good weather, and got to enjoy the beaches, and clear waters St. Thomas has to offer. However I would recommend another resort or another Caribbean Island with more to do, and better transportation.

Room Tip: Building A was very close to the beach.
