With 162 glowing reviews, I felt I had to take a chance on this little gem. The reviews did not lie!
The location requires a car but is well worth the drive. It is perfectly situated between downtown and Red Hook (the 2 major areas for dining).
The house sits high above and offers fantastic views of the bay. It is a 6 minute walk down to the most perfect, private beach we have ever layed eyes on. You will find sea glass and shells galore.
The best part of the experience was meeting the owners, Leah and Gunnar, and feeling like a family member in their home. They will honor whatever request you make to them with smiles on their faces. The rooms are lovely and extremely comfortable. They truly have thought of everything!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are unique and Leah would best be able to help you choose the one most suited for y...

This place is truly magical. I was engaged on my second visit there and plan one again for New Year's 2014. Not only it the Villa "top notch" but Leah and Gunner are really part of our family now. She is more a friend than a property owner/manager to us! You MUST visit this place to experience the magic! Views are just unspeakable!

Room Tip: Recommend the Frenchman's Bay Room! Best one there!

We stayed in the Mountainside loft (myself, my husband and my adult niece)at Villa Marbella last week (Dec. 2012). Staying at the Villa Marbella gave us a taste of what it would be like to have a vacation home on St. Thomas. The view from our window and from the pool area is fantastic, we watched the cruise ships come in and out of port every day. The beds were quite comfortable. The owners were away during our visit but their friend Kascia did a great job taking care of us. We rented a Jeep from the owners for the week we were there and it worked out great. Just be ready to drive on the left on narrow, windy roads (a fun experience all by itself). Kascia picked us up at the airport and took us back to the airport on our last day. The private beach was exactly that....private. We were expecting a little lagoon but it is a beautiful big beach and we saw only two other people there the whole time. Villa Marbella is the perfect alternative to a place like the Marriott Frenchmen's Cove where our friends stayed and which was teeming with people the whole time, not to mention a LOT more reasonable! There are a resident dog and cat on the premises. The dog is probably the friendliest dog I have ever encountered and the cat (Jenny) would come and sun herself nearby when I was in the pool and "talk" to me when I spoke to her. All in all a pleasurable experience. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: There are only four rentable rooms. We stayed in the Mountainside Loft which had a terrific view of...

We booked the Cruzan room for three nights in early December and had a wonderful time.
When my wife and I vacation we usually stay at a resort and use points towards a free room; we wanted to try something different and we couldn't of been happier! You will definitely need a car, so either rent one or call Leah and you can rent one of theirs. The views from the property are amazing. Each morning we had breakfast on our balcony. We walked down to the beach on two of our days and visited Magens beach during the other. The beach down the path is perfect, you are usually the only one on the beach, and the views are spectacular. If you are looking for true relaxation, this is the place!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Cruzan room, and it was perfect for us. You have your own entry, and a spectacular...

My husband and I stayed at Villa Marbella Suites for 5 nights in December 2012, and it was the perfect place for us! We wanted something different than an all-inclusive resort, and Villa Marbella provided all the amenities we needed. We stayed in the Frenchman Bay View loft, which had a great view from the patio. The room had a microwave, small refrigerator, Keurig, dishes, utensils, beach towels, beach bag, cooler, tv w/cable and free wi-fi. Leah also left a binder of information with maps, tips on where to go, and places to eat, and a complimentary bottle of rum. We rented a 2-door Jeep, which worked great for getting around - it is a great location, in between Red Hook on the east end and downtown Charlotte Amalie. They keep the whole property very clean and well maintained. Guests also have access to a secluded beach just a short walk from the property, and provided us snorkeling gear to use for our stay. It was our first time snorkeling and it was awesome! We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and on our patio, it felt very private and we also enjoyed the company of their great pets, Jaeger and Jenny. I would highly recommend Villa Marbella and we hope to return some day!

We were native islanders trying to take care of some family business, while having a beautiful view to relieve any stress that may develop during our stay. Villa Marbella provided what we wanted and more. Leah and Gunner are such wonderful hosts and they keep an immaculately clean, and intimate villa which allows you just the privacy you need without feeling deserted. They are both on hand if you need anything, and though a storm was threatened at the time of our stay in late August 2012, as we watched Leah and Gunner prepare for the storm, it showed their knowledge and competence if the storm became more severe, which it did not. The view of the ocean was so beautiful and peaceful, it belongs in a postcard. Their tall gentle dog is also the perfect addition to a perfect vacation stay. We would stay there again and again.

If Villa Marbella Suites has an opening, I would suggest you jump on it! My husband, son and I stayed with the host Leah and Gunnar for 4 nights in mid November. First off, that is a great time of year to go – many of the beaches were almost private in nature with so few people. Secondly, Villa Marbella is a pleasant change from a standard hotel room, off the beaten path. We really appreciated the individual attention we received from Leah and Gunnar. They truly love their business and it shows. Our family stayed in the Mountainside Loft and I highly recommend it! Please take a look at our photos of the views from the living room window and the patio. I really liked the way our room was quite private when we sat outside on the patio at night enjoy the evening air. FYI, bring bug spray! The grounds on the property are lovely and maintained very well and then there is the view… What can one say but amazing. Looking out our window or viewing from the patio every day never got old! We took an enjoyable hike down to their nearby beach one morning and saw many crabs along the way. Leah keeps your room stocked with beach towels, beach chairs, and a cooler for the beach, lots of info on St. Thomas and a binocular which I really appreciated when it came to looking at the cruise ships coming into port. It was fun to read the name of the ships coming in or leaving! The suite included a very clever space saving sink, 2-burner hot plate, mini-refrigerator and plenty of pots, pans, plates, bowls and utensils. We ate breakfast there every morning and had our evening meal there every night, grilling on the BBQ near the pool. Loved it, as well as the bottle of rum left for us when we arrived! Easy to get into the island spirit! Although there was an inviting pool, our style of vacation is spending lots of time at many different beaches. We rented a vehicle from Leah and Gunnar during our stay and they pick you up at the airport and take you where you need to go at the end. The price was reasonable and all their cars are in good shape, much better than St. Thomas roads, ha-ha! Speaking of beaches, these were our favorites (and * if there is good snorkeling as well). Lindquist Beach (turn off says Smith Bay Park $2.00 per person – seriously only 5 small groups of people here – lovely), Morning Star Beach (at the Marriott, parking is down below but may need to get there early), Magens Bay (entry fee), Coki Beach*. Would we go back again to Villa Marbella Suites? Yes – in a heartbeat!! Thank you Leah and Gunnar!
