“You must plan a meal with Gladys!”

We had read favorable reviews about Gladys' Cafe so we popped in for lunch. We were NOT disappointed. Service, atmosphere, and food was fabulous! We had the "special"....stewed chicken (jerk flavor), rice and pigeon peas, mac and cheese, plantains, and fresh baked bread....$12. The BEST part of the visit.....classic R&B playing softly in the background when Gladys started singing along very loudly and what a smooth, beautiful voice she has! It was a very relaxing, enjoyable experience. We have decided to go back before the end of our vacation!

“You need to experience Gladys' Cafe!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2009

We had lunch at Gladys' after reading so many favorable reviews on several websites. It was great! Service was excellent, restaurant was architecturally appealing, clean, and to top everything...Gladys broke out singing some really great classic Rhythm and Blues....we particularly enjoyed, "If you don't know me by now,...." She has an excellent voice. Prices were a little high but we chose the special, stewed chicken, rice and peas, mac and cheese, plantains, and "provisions" (meaning bread)....about $12 each+. We highly recommend you experience this great little restaurant. One of the highlights of our trip....so far.

“Excellent Caribbean Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2009

A great little place tucked away in the touristy downtown of Charlotte Amalie. Well worth seeking out. When I arrived i could smell the unmistakable aroma of Caribbean curry. Don't miss the curry chicken roti. It is awesome. The live performance by Glad's really make the whole experience unique.

“Great breakfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2009

My husband and I ate at Gladys's our first morning in STT based on the TA reviews. The food was great! We were there around 9am and the place was empty, so we were served quickly and our food was very tasty. Good portion sizes, great service and good prices!

“Don't miss Gladys's”

Hard to say much about Gladys's that the NY Times has not already said. It's in an old warehouse building in an alley in the 'touristy" downtown Charlotte Amalie. Nevertheless, it is a jewel for the food, the charming service, and the music. We went for breakfast twice and found it to be not only a great breakfast, but a welcoming, relaxing spot. Not often does your waitress sing while serving, but it's the standard informality here. They are closed on Sunday.
