The best thing about Gladys's is the walk down the alley to it. It's quite lovely. After that it's all down hill. It was very busy when my family arrived for lunch. We were crowded in at the door as other travelers packed in waiting for a table. Eventually we were seated and then forgotten.
After what seemed like forever we were noticed and given menus. Our waiter seemed to be having a bad decade. We felt obliged ask for our menu selections "if it isn't to much trouble please" and just hope that we would really be served. This guy really was not in a waiterly type mood.
Don't order the sweet potatoes unless you know what you are asking for. They are not sweet and they are not orange. They taste something like uncooked eggplant and are grey.
My special salmon burger was in no way special. The grilled grouper sandwich looked fine and my daughter liked her chicken sandwich. So for that I give it 2 stars instead of 1.
