Ginger and John have created a must be experienced slice of rainforest heaven. Just off the beaten path, with spacious villas and the most magical nature sounds to relax and fall asleep to. Accommodations have every thing you want; linens, kitchen utensils, grill and nothing you don't; noisy neighbors and internet/cell phone distractions. Ginger gave great suggestions and directions for hidden hiking trails and must see ruins, museums and gardens. Butler Bay is just down the street with awesome sunsets, Rainbow beach is just a little further with The ultimate beach bar and grill; Rhythms if you don't feel like cooking!

Northside Valley villas is a true Caribbean experience. But be forewarned, no t.v., no cell service, and minimal internet service. This is a magical place to relax and unwind, the sound of the frogs, geckos, and iguanas fill the night air as well as the scent of the many tropical plants that surround the villas and the resort. It is close to beautiful beaches, fine eating establishments, and the town of Frederiksted on the West End of St. Croix. The villa I stayed in, Little Brittany, was clean, with large bedrooms and baths. It has a complete working kitchen, and plenty of living room space. The real place to live, however, is the large expansive deck that runs the whole length of the house. On top of all this, you can't beat the price! Northside Valley villas is not for everyone. If you are looking for a true Caribbean experience, then you should look into this place. The owner/manager Ginger is so nice and accommodating, she will help you with all your questions and needs. A rental car is recommended... I would go back to Little Brittany without question!

Room Tip: Little Brittany has a lovely sea view, ask the owner Ginger about other villas with views.

Northside exceeded my families expectations! Early December we spent a week here and we are hooked. This is far from the typical hotel room with the same amenities as all the other hotel rooms. This is a villa. In the rainforest. With a beach view. At North side there is no TV, no A/C, none of trappings of our everyday life. But what there IS... the sounds of nature all around. There are cool breezes and chirping birds and the sounds of waves crashing on the shores. Swaying in a hammock under a moonlit sky peppered with stars. There is peace and tranquillity and the realization that you Really can live without our modern trappings even for a few days. The days we stayed at Northside will forever be cherished. Ginger, one of the owners, is very sweet and attentive. She shared with us the history of Northside and the island. The beach is as close as walking down the driveway and across the road. The best piece of advice to finding this treasure is while getting there for the first time go past Butler Bay, you will see a sign for eco villa ahead. Then, North side will be up ahead on your right. A little tricky to find in the dark, but then again it wouldn't be called a "treasure".....

We arrived after dark and it was bumpy road getting there with hardly any lights. But the description (including the best way to the supermarkt) was fantastic and we found the place with no problem. We loved staying close to the rainforest and that the windows were mesh windows which keeps the building cool. The place and the houses really are as big as on the pictures, for us they even build a ramp so that the whole building was wheelchair accessible. There was also a roll in shower on the outside which was only a few meters away. We had 2 bedrooms and a hugh dining area and kitchen. This is not a hotel though, so do not expect TV. But that's what we were after. So if you like nature (and yes, there are going to be a few bugs around) and staying in a really cool place, you have to be here. A Car (best a jeep or SUV or similar) would be a good idea. Ginger was also lovely and we hope to be back one day.

If you're looking for true peace and quiet, stop everything and get in touch with Ginger at Northside Valley.

My husband and I were looking for an environmentally responsible place to stay in St. Croix that also had enough creature comforts to make our trip a real vacation. Our villa, the 'Ginger Thomas,' hit all the marks and then some. Spacious--two bedrooms, full kitchen, wall to wall covered porch, deck, full bathroom-- clean, working appliances, more than enough hot water, and a good supply of essentials (towels, basic kitchen supplies, etc.). There were some powerful rain storms at night and nothing leaked or got gross with dampness.

No TV, no wifi, good riddance! An excellent opportunity to unplug and reset. Let your imagination start working, and you'll feel like you're in a magical treehouse. Tree frogs and ocean breezes at night and cooing doves in the morning will provide the soundtrack.

The property's private beach has snorkeling that rivals the best we've seen around the world. Teeming with fish and coral. Don't expect to walk right in, though-- the beach is rocky and can be rough. If it is, keep walking and you'll find a tidal pool that an architect couldn't have made better with a set of carefully constructed plans. Secluded and calm, perfect for "sensory deprivation."

Down the road a bit are sandy beaches and places to eat. Driving around Fredericksted is not stressful--roads are generally well maintained.

Ginger is on top of things and always answers her phone. She even came to our rescue when we thought a credit card had been misplaced, and was there to meet us when we arrived in the dark.

Would come back to Northside Valley and will miss it, for sure. Thank you, Ginger!
