“Very disappointing after the Cruzan Rum Distillery Tour!”

The Captain Morgan Tour was a big disappointment. It was impersonal, and the actual tour lasted for about 5 minutess. Compared with the local Cruzan Rum Tour which lasted about one hour and was spectacular!
The guide at the Captain Morgan tour was disinterested and would not answer any questions. She could have cared less about the tour or the facility - very unprofessional. This place was a COMPLETE disappointment! Don't waste your money - got to local Cruzan Rum tour instead.

Been on this tour and while it's flashy with help of technology, I felt I really didn't get that 'hands on' that I did when I took the Cruzan Rum tour. I understand the logistics of lawsuits and the legalities of customer safety, but I felt so restricted.
First, you pay $10 and get to watch some photos that told the story of the company. Next, I heard there was a video to watch, but it wasn't available at that time. Then you get buckled-up on a cramped-up tram for, what feels like, a 100 foot ride to distillery. You're not allowed to enter the actual facility and you basically get a Q&A session outside the warehouse. You then get on the tram and see another 200 feet of distillery with explanation of the piping and then head back to the visitors center.
The, almost-saving-grace is that you get 2 "free" drinks at the end of the tour by the guest bar. But that's it. Don't think you can buy anymore. Due to legalities, they can only serve 2 drinks per visitor (sigh).
All-in-all , it was an okay experience; but I prefer the Cruzan Tour over this any day.

If you want a true tour of a distillery and the process of making rum, I high suggest you go to the Cruzan Rum tour instead. The whole process of the tour for Captain Morgan takes about an hour from the time you start with a 20-30 minute video. This video basically is a marketing video showing commercial and other things. It doesn't go into the process of making rum or the history of Captain Morgan. After this video you are loaded into a large golf cart type vehicle and drive around the distillery. No usage of camera or cell phones are allowed, they very worried that a spark may blow the place sky high, unlike Cruzan which wants you to take photos of everything. The drive around the plants lasts about 20 minutes and then they take you back to the visitors center and give you two coins so you can have a couple tasting drinks of rum. I think the $10 would have been better spent as a bar on the beach over the tour.

This tour is well worth your time. It takes about an hour but you will want to relax in the bar for free drinks. They have a great display of the history of St. Croix and is very informative. Also have a good history of Captain Henry Morgan.

The video they show is a real hoot!!

The tour of the plant were the make the rum is informative. The plant itself is immaculate and is a tribute to the excellent job they do in managing it. It is highly efficient and no waste is expelled from the plant.

The bar area was my favorite, large and relaxing not to mention the good rum punches served there.

You take a tour on a golf cart and get 2 drink coins which means you can only taste 2 things... Stupid.

Please visit Cruzan Rum tour for a more in depth experience. You get to walk through the plant and see everything in live action and at the end you get to try as much rum as you want.. They even have 151 soaked cherries. This is only at Cruzan Rum Factory on STX!
