We were here twice when there was not a cruise ship and it seemed like everything is closed up. Visit Pollys, it is a great coffeeshop here with great food. We did end up there on the day we were leaving and a cruise ship was there. It was a changed town. The street was closed off and all the shops were open and a ton of street vendors were there with amazing things. Only problem was we did not have time to look as we had to catch a plane.

Any good walk around F'sted should include time out on the pier. Cruise ships come in there so along the length of the pier the water color changes with the depth. Very nice view of F'sted & western STX from the end. Close to the fort & other historic places. When ships are in there's kind of a carnival atmosphere.

Beautiful view , I could have sat for hours, I don't dive, but loved to see what i could spot from the pier , its close to town so when done shopping what better place to rest, even wish I had had time to sit and read a book with the breeze from the water thats all I would have needed.

The water is extremely calm, but deep- but there's action right up top. Go to the boulders to see large puffers, large schools of Tangs and other larger fish, and get up close to the pile-ons for the pier for small brain corals, lots of amazingly colorful sponges and tunicates, wrasse, damsels, little puffers, blennies, color color color! Go out to the old pile-ons for more rich/older coral variety, a few bigger fish, and here we saw a turtle and large ray! Very calm waters for beginning snorkelers, but 30 feet deep or more, so that may freak out some new snorks :) Cool! I am a diver and loved the diving here, but found that at the pier I saw lots of new stuff that I didn't see diving.

we dove this spot 5 times in one week (along with 10 other dives)... you could literally spend the whole week diving the pier. be SURE to do at least one night dive here, and of course, be sure cruise ships aren't there :)
