Owner description: The Cruzan Rum Distillery welcomes you to come visit our "Don't Hurry" atmosphere. Learn how to create delicious cocktails and relax island style! The Visitors' Pavilion houses the Gift Shop & Rum Boutique, in addition to our tasting bar. This guided walking tour takes you on the aromatic journey of turning molasses into rum at the only still functioning historic distillery site in the Virgin Islands. This is an outdoor walking tour that requires climbing stairs and possible uneven walking surfaces. We try to run our tours in either rain or shine, so be prepared for the weather conditions of the day. No matter the weather conditions, guests of legal drinking age will be rewarded with 2 sample cocktails at the conclusion of the tour. Low Season (May - October) hours are 9 - 5 pm, Monday to Friday, and 10 - 2 pm on Saturdays. We are open on Sundays, 10 - 2 pm, when a cruise ship is in port. During High Season we open every Sunday. Tours leave every 30 minutes from the top of the hour. The last tour departs an hour before closing. Cash is not accepted, so please bring your Visa, Mastercard, or Discover Card. Do hurry to the Don't Hurry!

“Read up on rum beforehand, ask lots of questions”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

Went on the tour, one other group of tourists & us, and 3 drunk young guys who skipped the tour & drank at the bar, then tried to tell us all what we should drink. Tour was interesting, fast. I asked lots of questions. Guide acted like she was just anxious to go home. 2 samples at bar are highly regulated, no sharing, restrictions on what you can try. Good if you are curious about rum process. Molasses imported from Guatemala, distilled & aged here, then shipped to Tenn. by tanker truck/ship. Owner Jim Beam bottles it in Tennessee . Competitor jack Daniels owns Bacardi. I think fee was $10 for tour, & you could buy drinks, too. They close at 4pm. Small gift shop, t shirts, etc. credit cards ok. This is a real tour of an industrial factory. You climb ladders, look in giant rum vats, etc. not beautified for tourists except the gift shop. Fine, but you should know what to expect.

“Best part, 2 tastes at end of short tour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

Tour was nothing exciting. Walked and saw operation. Best part of tour was the two tastings of rum. It's ok, tour is short. Yummy rum! Glad we bought some. Prices were outstanding. $8 for 750 ml. flavored rums. Was a quick 1 1/2 enjoyment. :)

“inexpensive & relaxing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

it was in September and there was only one other couple touring with us. Still very hot. we waked thru the boiler area - VERY VERY HOT hope those guys have a room to cool down in. it seemed like my kitchen at Christmas with the warm molasses aromas. - channel that into a spa sauna room & make a fortune!! The staff were very friendly. at every point we encounter workers they would smile & say hello (even in that hot boiler room- some guy smiled & waved)
drinks at end cool and refreshing in the open & shaded gathering area.
rum MUCH cheaper - wished I bought more of the Black Strap. I soaked raisin in it over night- drained & mixed in softened vanilla ice cream & refroze for the BEST rum raisin ice cream ever served it with banana foster made with the black strap & poured straight over mocha chocolate chunk ice cream at home & plan to make rum balls for the holidays.

Wish I bough a t-shirt there too - they were light weight & perfect for island wear

NOT FOR DISABLED since there are stairs and graveled walkways - but maybe could pay for the tour & wait in the reception area & have the drink

“Neat experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

We had a good time here at the distillery. Short 15 min tour but the tasting room was fun. 2 drinks per person were included with the $5 tour. Way worth the money and experience. Liquor was cheaper at the distillery than at supermarkets. 6 for $43 for the flavored rums. Fun thing to do!

“Rum Factory tour and tasting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Thr rum factory tour is very interesting if you have never had a rum factory tour before. The tasting bar is a good way to determine which rums you would want to try. By all means, try the cruzan rum cream-it is better than baileys. Take your time tasting, if you can, and drive yourself, don't go with the trolleys, it gets way to crowded that way and you can't take the time you need to taste the product.
There is a fee for the tour, but not for the tasting room.
