This is less of a botanical garden than an old estate that is open for a waliking tour. We enjoyed the historical information that was provided, but many of the plants were not identified and the trail for the self-guided tour was blocked off at one point. Look inside the overseer's house for the bats! The historic buildings and structures were in ruins. Probably worth the price of admission, but in part because it feels as though you are helping to maintain what remains of the history. Minimal information on slavery and the way the slaves were treated. No active demonstrations.

There is a fee to enter the gardens and they close at 5pm. It was a great walk seeing the ruins, museum, and partial rainforest walk. We took some beautiful pictures along the way. It was a great way to pass the late afternoon before dinner.

Our stop at Village Botanical Gardens was part of a 3stop excursion on our cruise with RCCL. My father and I chose to do a land excursion while my husband scuba dived. This is not to be missed we had a wonderful time. The guides we had were extremely knowledgeable of the flora and fauna as well as the history of what use to be a successful sugar plantation. Old ruin of plantation building still stood amid the wondrous trees and flowers brought from all over the world. We also saw a nest of bats...I thought was kinda cool..and many little lizards ran in parade over huge blooms of exotic flowers. If your itinerary stops in St Croix, spend a day here, it is an experience you will not forget. Shout out to Gayle one of the guides who helped me locate a Virgin Island quarter for my dad collection. Wish we could have stayed longer.

A morning at the Botanical Garden was well enjoyed by the two gardening bro in laws. We had already fell in love with the Flamboyant trees from Madagascar that dot St Croix and to have all the local flora, and then some, with labels was great. The plants and gardens walk was well documented in the brochure and the ruins interesting.

Visited the Garden for Mango Melee (the local Mango festival). The gardens were nice but there was very limited flora/fauna to be seen. I expected a more lush and tropical experience. Instead, just a lot of trees, grass and a few flowers. You and bypass this attraction and not feel you missed anything spectacular.
