A gorgeous combination of gardens and history. The gardens are housed on a former sugar plantation, so there is lots of history and loads of beauty. Worth the trip

The day we went, this time, it rained off and on. There was a craft fair with lots of vendors, so we bought lots of goodies and had great island food too. Afterwards, we strolled around, taking in all the beauty of the flora and fauna, and the old ruins on the estate.

My husband is not into horticulture but we enjoyed the self-guided walk despite this. It was fun trying to guess what each plant/tree was and then reading the plaque. They had a large assortment of succulents and plants used in the kitchen, as well as old buildings and building ruins. There were fruit bats present when we toured. Most of the grounds is fairly level, not wheel chair accessible, but easy to walk even for younger seniors. The gift shop has some nice things reasonably priced.

well worth the fee. Good selections of native trees and plants, plus orchids (my wife is an orchidiot). Easy to walk in about 1 hour, and also has some good historical info. Gift shop very helpful. Bathrooms plentiful also.
