Carringtons Inn St. Croix

Just what we were looking for....accommodations with personality and a story behind it! Roger, a native of St. Croix, was very friendly and informative...we were relaxed the minute we walked in! What a grand cultural experience....absolutely beats fancy all-inclusive hotels.... for those who really want to experience a true island experience. We are excited to return and want to bring some friends from home. We felt like part of The Carrington family for 1 week. Our day started off with a full cooked breakfast that was served as elegantly as any fine restaurant (no paper plates here)! Often, we took a dip in the pool outside our room before breakfast. We felt extremely safe at all times - after we were in for the night - Roger would shut the lights down, as if he was silently looking over us and tucking us in. Loved the setting - atop a hill with a great view of Christiansted's harbor. The rooms were very spacious - it was so nice and relaxing to return to Carrington's Inn after a busy day out an about on the island. We seldom used the big screen TV in the common area, but we did use the computer that was available to his guests. Loved the caribbean breeze!

Just like every other review says...WONDERFUL place to stay. Ridiculously great breakfast, lovely rooms and peaceful setting. I felt it was a good mix of "on your own" and "people interaction" - so, you can feel welcomed while keeping your privacy intact. This is a haven on the island - the hosts go to great lengths to make sure their guests are comfortable. I was traveling alone, so having them there helped also make me feel safe. I am writing this review almost 2 years after my visit - the stay made quite an impression!

Our host Roger was very freindly and helpful to us new-comers to the island. We came in very late and he fed us so we wouldn't have to leave to find a restaurant. Our room had the best view over-looking Christainsted harbor, a very comfortable bed, breezes were nice and very clean throughout. Very quite and peacful setting (accept the occasional rooster crow off in the distance haha). The breakfast was awesome and kept us going throughout the day. The PC was helpful and could print out maps etc. If we come back to VI we'll stay again for sure.

Room Tip: All the rooms with a view are great. We checked them all out.

My husband and I were looking for a nice "chill" spot where we could relax after a transition from a stressful wedding week. We arrived and Roger greeted us in the driveway and showed us to our room, the Periwinkle. What a breathtaking view of the city and the ocean! We had a different and tasty breakfast each morning varying between pancakes, sausage w/red peppers, scrambled eggs, eggs benedict w/sweet bell peppers, cereal, bagels w/mango and papaya jam, soy/parmalat milk, coffee, bananas, etc. The breakfast fueled us up each morning for our day out in St. Croix and after dinner it was so nice to come back to sit out on our peaceful balcony or by the pool and sip on the local Cruzan Rum. Everything was super clean, and the other guests as well as Roger and Linda (helps cook breakfast) were very friendly and helpful when we needed anything. I would go back--anniversary trip perhaps??
Extra perks: bathrobes in room, extra comfy bed, snorkel gear/towels/hairdryer to borrow if needed, less than five minutes to downtown Christiansted and boardwalk

I stayed at Carringtons Inn on business and I will never stay in one of the larger hotels again. The hosts were warm and accommodating and the guests were friendly as well. Unlike the other reviewer, I found it to be a great place when travelling on business as the open common areas allowed me to work and unwind in a beautiful, quiet and inspiring environment. Even on business it was a relief to engage with others or enjoy nature rather than veg out on TV.

We absolutely loved our week at Carringtons Inn. Roger was the perfect host & the grounds and room we stayed (Morning Glory) was beautiful. The breakfast every morning is really something that should not be missed. It filled us up straight through late afternoon. While we were on the island, we drove around & checked out a lot of other resorts ( luxury resorts!) & I must say, I was more then happy to come home to our room every night. You really feel like it is your home away from home. The pool & grounds give you tons of room to spread out,& I loved coming home from the beach & relaxing by the pool for a few hours before dinner. All in all a perfect visit thanks to Roger & Linda at Carringtons Inn. See you guys soon , Arlene & Seth:)

We've stayed elsewhere on St Croix, and that was pretty good. But once we stayed at and experienced Carringtons, we're never going elsewhere again. And for the money, you definitely are not going to get a better value, maybe anywhere in the Caribbean.
4/2011 was our 5th stay and you just can not beat the clean, relaxed and comfortable surroundings. Roger and Claudia are master hosts, knowing the delicate balance between leaving you alone, and being right there when you need them. Be sure to rent a car to get around, and everything else will fall into place. The breakfasts are superb and not to be missed(don't be late!) as is the conversation around the table with other guests who help, guide, and reagale each other with trip stories, great finds, activity advice and friendly banter. We always go home with new friends from the Caribbean. That is, in addition to Roger, Claudia and Linda, who seem to be included with your room.
