Any one familiar with "island time" is accustomed to a bit of a wait. This venture however was well beyond what is reasonable. I was able to ponder the meaning of life as I watch our dinner cool to the point of being almost inedible. It can not be said that the server was to busy, no she was well aware that our food was waiting in the window, she even had time to make a drink and tell us it would be right out as it continued to cool off. As a native Texan I have high standards for Mexican food. Taco Bell has higher standards of what Mexican is than the pirates tavern. If you are on St. Croix there are many other restaurants near and in Christiansted that deserve your attention.

We rolled into Pirates Tavern. Hit some guacamole and tacos. There was some really good live music happening. The stage is above the bar so you can see and hear from any seat in the house. Definitely a local hang out.

We enjoyed a very good Mexican meal. The restaurant is off the beaten path and is in a perfect spot. You can also enjoy a walk around the marina.

We ate here on our recent visit to St. Croix and were pleasantly surprised. What a great find. The setting is unique and the food is amazing. We have a favorite Mexican at our home time and this is even better than our hometown favorite. The salsa is the best ever. This is truly worth the trip to Salt River. We will definitely eat here again on our next visit to St. Croix.
