“Awesome world cup brunch with Spencer!”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

Spencer our server/bartender/all around gracious host made us feel welcome from our first visit to the next. We enjoyed a World Cup match together and he gave us several spirited recommendations for some other hotspots to try on the island. Meanwhile we greatly enjoyed our coconut pork empanadas, fish tacos, cubano and rice and beans followed by the homemade ice cream. The double chocolate award-wining bread pudding on our subsequent visit was AWESOME as were the margaritas and rum cocktails. Thanks for a fun time!

“The place for dinner on the North Shore”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

This place had great food, and really awesome homemade ice cream. It doesn't have an ocean view, so if that's what you're looking for, try Waves or Top of the Cliff. Nice place for a sit-down dinner though. It may get rowdy late at night, but we ate their twice on our vacation, and it wasn't loud at all.

“Casual atmosphere with surprisingly-gourmet food!”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

Rowdy Joe's was a great little find! Not too far from our resort (Renaissance Carambola) this bar/restaurant has a uniquely-casual atmosphere that is specific to the West Indies. Essentially located steps from the road and parking lot, the outdoor dining area felt like we had sat down at a picnic table in someone's front yard. The clientele was a fun mix of locals walking over to have a beer and some conversation and tourists, many we recognized from our hotel. Because of the relaxed atmosphere the conversation was easy and we found ourselves visiting with the tables around us. There were even a couple of friendly dogs belonging to the local clientele roaming around (but not begging) at the the tables. This is the kind of Caribbean atmosphere I personally love... no frills, casual, laid-back and anything goes. But be warned, if you don't appreciate that type of atmosphere, then you won't like Rowdy Joes.

The food was EXCELLENT (we had a wide variety - fish tacos, steak tacos, a Cuban sandwich and shrimp linguine); including a delicious stuffed mushroom appetizer that had us literally licking the plate! The ice cream is homemade and delicious ~ VERY rich and VERY generous servings... one order would have easily been enough for our whole family but of course we had to try all the flavors, which are made on-site and change daily!

We did have a pretty long wait for our food. But the service was very friendly and I'm wondering if something went wrong with our order because all of the tables around us seemed to be getting their meals very promptly. Even with the wait, Rowdy Joe's earns a great review with us!!

“Consistently Excellent Food, Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. The food is delicious, freshly homemade and consistent. Great comfort food like Turkey Pot Pie and delicious soups, salads and sandwiches. Nightly specials are creative and, well, special! Fish tacos are a local favorite and Monday night steak tacos are also awesome. For those with a sweet tooth, there is always a choice of several flavors of homemade ice cream. Highly recommend.

“Homemade Ice cream!”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

We ate here twice during our trip. The good: they have some really great soups and ice cream, some really unique offerings, like blue cheese cheesecake on a salad (yum!) and really good seafood tacos. They also have daily specials that were quite good. The menu has enough variety to make you willing to do a repeat, and the prices are in line with the island (which is generally expensive). The bad: be prepared to wait. All the staff are busy; this is not a laziness issue. But both times, it seemed they could have used more service staff, and the kitchen seems to have a hard time keeping up. I realize this is a casual restaurant on a relaxed island, but the waits were really long. Definitely worth a try if you are willing to spend a while there (like almost two hours both times).
