I recently went back to the Cormorant for my third stay, and it's very obvious the ownership has changed. I have always loved this hotel, but I am delighted that it is even better. First, I noticed that all the rooms have been upgraded. They look wonderful, clean, and comfortable. Second, the entire dining and pool area has been given a facelift, and looks amazing.

Thre thing I like about the Cormorant is that it combines the advantages of both a bed and breakfast and a big resort. It's quaint and charming--you'll get to know all the staff, who are like family. When I have traveled there, it's not very crowded, so it's even more cozy. But they have all the amenities of a big resort, like pool side service, a great menu, and excursion planning.

I have always said that if you are looking for a Club Med, spring break, or a crowded "feel", this place probably is not for you. However, if you want to relax with your significant other and reconnect, you'll find peace and tranquility here. As opposed to "party", instead, think of "peace."

The Cormorant just keeps getting better and better!

If you can imagine the prettiest place in the world, you're beginning to understand St. Croix's lure and the Cormorant's beautiful job at helping you enjoy all the island has to offer.

St. Croix itself has tons to offer: from snorkeling at Buck Island to horseback -riding at sunset, from ocean kayaking eco-tours to visiting local downtown shops and artisans. My advice is, if you'd like to capitalize on your trip first, stay at the Cormorant. Second, STAY AT the Cormorant. With their friendly staff, to the guests you'll meet, you'll have delicious food, great accomodations, the most brillant view and the time of your life!

My girlfriend and some friends of ours recently visited. We spent just about every moment either dining (or waiting to dine), drinking (try the Cruzan Confusion), or just enjoying life from the view of the Cormorant's swimming pool ( joining us: the local beach dogs & the blue heron). We met some truly amazing men and women and ended up befriending the staff (Jennette, David, Sylvia and Ivan), all the while still escaping away to this beautiful club where you can spend the entire day just looking out into the water (and we did). I never realized a place could be so pretty. Take up the inclusive dining & drinking options. You'll be thankful later!

Spent a week in one of the deluxe king ocian-view rooms. We found the room to be very clean and comfortable with new linens, towels, etc., and the balcony had a great view of the surrounding palm trees, beach and water.

The staff worked from the moment we got there to make sure we had what we needed and that any issues were addressed quickly. Many of them knew us by name within a day or so of our arrival.

The grounds are pretty well-kept, and they were doing more work on the landscaping during our stay.

The open-air bar is conveniently situated between the main lobby, the dining area, and the pool, and the bartenders had a lot of fun with us. The food was awesome, making us glad we opted for the meal plan (I think we ate one meal somewhere other than the resort!). They did run out of some menu items during the week....something to work on....but there were always plenty of options, and I don't think I had the same dinner entree twice during the week-long stay.

The pool area has just been redone and it is in great shape! We met several new friends there during the week.

My partner and I took this trip with two friends, and we are already talking about next year's trip.

Our experience with the Cormorant began with email and phone exchanges. As part of the vacation research process, we contacted a number of resorts to assess the accomodations, proximity to activities, and dining options. After a number of exchanges with Ivan, we settled upon the Cormorant. We are certainly glad that we did!!
It is clear that a number of changes have taken place since the property was acquired in March. We did not find the issues identified by other reviewers earlier this year. The pool is beautiful! The rooms are very clean and spacious. The dining accomodations and food were excellent.
In summary, the vacation experience was a wonderful success. The staff, especially Julie, Ivan, Jeanette, and David were very professional and friendly. We fully expect to visit the Cormorant again and again over the coming years.
p.s. If you visit, tell Ivan that he must go horseback riding; especially with Equus Rides, run by Stephen Odea, a special man who made the sunset on the beach a fantastic experience.
p.s.s. Recommend the package offered by the Cormorant, which includes airfare and daily meals. While other food options exist on the island, ultimately we found ourselves enjoying the dining at the Cormant the best. Prices are moderate.

The Cormorant Beach Club was just what the doctor ordered. The staff was friendly, the hotel clean and the view was right out of a magazine. We had never been to St. Croix, but fell in love with the whole experience. Everyone we meet on the island was nice. The food at the Cormorant was very good. The snorkling right at the beach was good. The rooms are large and bright. We were told that it had just reopened. The hotel was not too busy so it was very relaxing. Thank you Julie and Ivan and Pat for all of your help. We will be back.

My partner and I just returned from a week long trip to St Croix and the Cormorant. It was exactly what we expected. We had an excellent time and believe it was worth every penny spent. The rooms were spacious and very clean. (the sheets were not torn, as per a previous review). They were kept clean daily by Gizelle.
It was a slow time of year so the place wasn't that crowded but that is what we wanted. We had time to ourselves and also met a few nice people who were also staying there. (Allister and Travis/Randy and Eddie)
The employees at the Cormorant were all very professional and made us feel right at home. Jenette in the lounge made us many "Cruzan Confusions"
The food in the restaurant was also excellent. The atmosphere is very casual and relaxing.
The Cormorant is going through some changes as well....new owners; who seem comitted to make improvements. Renovatios have begun on some of the rooms. I believe the pool is also being renovated.
Again we had a wonderful time at the Cormorant and WILL go back.
P.S. We also wanted to comment on a previous review... We did not find the Cormorant to be a crumbling disaster, nor did we find a dirty and moldy room and torn sheets. The lawn furniture was also not ripped. Yes the place needs some updating but we believe the problems are minor.

Again thanks to Julie and the entire staff for a great vacation.

Russ and Mike

Our experience at the Cormorant was an interesting one. When we first arrived it was pooring rain and the first impression we had of the resort was not good. We saw a couple of big weeds sticking out of the center of the tennis court when we first arrived. Hmmm....

My partner and I were looking for a very low key vacation. Now the rain, the resort can't do anything about. The next day though, it was sunny and beautiful weather. We met some really great people during the week, but there were not many people staying in the resort, probably due to it being off season. The resort definitely needs some work, especially when you consider the price you are paying for the room each night. In addition, the grounds could definitely use a thorough overhaul, in addition to the pool.

Even though the resort was not exactly what we expected, my partner and I had a wonderful vacation. The fact that there weren't too many people at the resort definitely had its advantages. The couples we did meet David and Rocky, Ty and Frat and Raquel and Rebecca defintely made our trip enjoyable, as well very interesting. Ty and Frat, if you ever see this review, make sure to e-mail Jim and I. We'd love to go out clubbing one of the nights when we're in NYC.

Anyway, we ended our week rested and saying that we would come back to St. Croix someday. The low key week was just what we wanted.

If I were you, I would try to negotiate the rate down, considering the current conditions of the resort. Enjoy whatever vacation you wind up taking!!

Keep supporting the family!
